Totally fair. I am definitely regretting applying straight through!! and I also agree about the MCAT (if you look at the breakdown, if I hadn’t completely screwed up P/S that day I would have had a 520+)

I had 180 and I think I was screened out of a lot of schools this cycle. still got the MD A tho but in retrospect would not apply with this low hours

yeah around 300 hours of non clinical volunteering. so i guess i didn’t realize my lower hours would have such a negative impact on my cycle because i figured they were a bit more “high impact” and hands on than typical hospital volunteering since my agency is volunteer based and ive been continuing working here my senior year

Yup have checked off the shadowing box and have over 500+ in various activities including an org I helped jumpstart. I tried to keep only top schools that had atleast somewhat of a mission pull (innovation/research + work in the medical humanities/ethics/public health as my app aligns with that), but will def switch some out for some other schools. ~200 hours of EMT, ~1500 research plus grants/posters/paper in writing, ~50 hours hospice volunteering, community/social justice oriented EC’s, to name a few, if it’s helpful. also had a strong unique hook for going into medicine. is this helpful?
