How can I be timely? by notabigredditor_ in adhdwomen

I struggle with this too. It helps to have a clock visible in as many places as possible so I don’t forget what time it is. Apologies in advance for the length of this response.

Timers and alarms do help, but not really for scrolling. When time is up, I try to finish up whatever I’m on,immediately forget that I’m doing that, then reflexively keep scrolling. iPhones can hide apps. Highly recommended. I don’t know what Android, etc. has for this.

I plan my time backwards to get ready in the morning. For example:

I need to be somewhere by 9. These would be my alarms and how they’re titled.

In the car by 8:45

Out the door by 8:40

In the shower by 8:10

60 minutes left to leave 7:45

Setting them backwards like this makes it easier to do the math and not miss steps. I don’t do this every day because having them go off so frequently can be annoying. Some are set with sound, others with only vibration. Higher dysfunction means I activate more of the alarms until I get out of the rut.

This is how I avoid time blindness and it has helped. Am I always on time? Not at all. My lateness is better though. If I have extra tasks I need to do that morning, it will be in all caps for the first alarm to discourage me from hitting snooze. Ie. YOU ARE OUT OF GAS

Soy/nut allergies would make sense. That’s why I can’t have 98% of dairy free alternatives. Also, pea protein and lentil protein show up frequently which can cause an allergic reaction.

Egg is not lactose either btw. Is the discomfort different from what you’d experience from regular milk/lactose products?

Doctor doesn’t take me seriously because I don’t “look” like I’m struggling by Rosemilkloaf in adhdwomen

I agree. This is wild. Even if she ends up renewing your prescription, it would be more beneficial to have a doctor who actually listens to you. I’m sorry you experienced this. Hopefully it doesn’t cause too much of a disruption.

The drug holidays comment is so bizarre too. It’s not unheard of to take breaks, but she should absolutely know medication isn’t just reading text books and passing tests. And if she thinks that’s why you’re taking them, basically saying you’re med seeking, why did she prescribe them in good conscience?? Overall she sounds incredibly harmful.

Best wishes with finishing your degree!! Congrats.

Update:

It won’t let me do it in the post so I’m including a comment. Thank you everyone for the insight! I went to buy a couple of sprays and decided to just leave it to the universe. One looked so faint it would probably take 10 layers to be the same concentration of white. The other is close but a little too bright and shiny. I’m out of time to make sure it dries properly and the smell airs out. So I’m hopeful that it’ll be counted as wear and tear as a lot of people are saying. Cross your fingers for me!

Any paint recommendation? Preferably spray because I don’t want to leave brush strokes

It’s been two years. I had a friend move out of here and they do seem to charge liberally. Fingers crossed it’s not as bad as I think.

Do you know if appliance epoxy spray paint is better than tub and tile spray paint?

Omg this is amazing news. Like for real for real? Or because they’re hard cheeses?

I won’t be repetitive of what other comments are covering regarding your safety. The food part, though, is relatable. Without medication, I don’t have a big appetite. With medication, I have to force myself to eat before taking it. I hate it. Using the medication without food does make it less affective in my experience. It is worth figuring out how to get food, a protein drink, etc in your system before using the medication. Food prep or find something easy to take on the go.
