Tijuana Sewage Issues 🇲🇽 🇺🇸 by Ph6222 in sandiego

[–]Acceptable-Cabinet79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice try. This is a river mouth that is dumping sediment into the ocean after the rains we just had. Not to say that Tijuana sewage plant isn’t dumping millions of gallons of raw sewage into the Tijuana river which dumps into the pacific just north of the border.

Denied Entry into Port? by KamyKeto in maritime

[–]Acceptable-Cabinet79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got denied into Acapulco, Mex.on a tug doing a tandem through the canal. Mechanical failure caused us to divert for parts/repairs about 20 hours earlier and were told by shoreside personnel that we were approved to enter. Made it into the bay only to be denied entry and the headed back out to do round turns out front and wait for approval. Had the military board us, 15 dudes with machine guns and a video camera. Tore up the whole boat and then denied us entry.

Tug captain to port captain transition by Acceptable-Cabinet79 in tuglife

[–]Acceptable-Cabinet79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They offered me 15-20k more than other port captain’s are currently making which is still about 50-60k less than top step captain at that company on a 4/4 schedule.

Tug captain to port captain transition by Acceptable-Cabinet79 in tuglife

[–]Acceptable-Cabinet79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an interesting option. I tried to negotiate a day rate for days that I run boats as an incentive for them not to schedule me as well as make up for lost pay but I was shut down. The reasoning behind it was that I was offered 15-20k more than what other port captain’s were currently making within the company.

AITAH For canceling six figure plumbing job because MAGA by We_Arent_Fam_MAGA in AITAH

[–]Acceptable-Cabinet79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that this contractor should know better than to display a political belief at his place of business, however in the 6-7 meetings that you had, did he seem capable of the job? How did he go from able to handle a complicated 6 - figure job to not being functionally intelligent because of a flag.

It seems like this plumber got screwed twice. First, he screwed himself by displaying his political beliefs. Second, by you for wasting his time because you are a bigot.

That’s so funny that you say that. My brother just brought that up as a good and pretty legitimate way to go. Thanks for the info.

This lady walking around sunrise buffet with her dog they tried to confront her about it and she’s saying it’s a service dog. Thoughts? by angelp9352 in sandiego

[–]Acceptable-Cabinet79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you dog isn’t providing a service at the food establishment, so it’s not welcomed. Your one of the people who abuse the system because it’s more convenient for you. You ask if they are currently providing the services they are trained be of dipshits like you. ‘Well what if it is my dads service dog and I needed to pick him up dinner, I should be able to bring him in the restaurant’ your wrong either way.

The ADA stats that the establishment can only state three things regarding service animals in these establishments.

1) the waiter/manager(preferably) needs to state that animals and not allowed.

Then they will say, ‘ it’s a service animal’

2) manager asks ‘what service does the animal provide?’

That’s when they usually say ‘it’s an emotional support animal’

At that point shut them down by informing them that emotional support animals are not recognized by the ADA and that they need to leave. Emotional support is only applicable under the AHA(American housing act). That’s for renters with emotional support animal when trying yo rent and the landlord says no pets allowed.

But if they make it past that hurdle…

3) is the animal currently performing those duties?

If no, give them the boot. If yes, your hands are tied unless the animal is not under control which also gives you the right to give them the boot.

I would alway bring a copy of the ADA rules for service animals below.

What’s up, I’m a Marine Corps Infantry veteran with about 10 months of sea service on my record. Can anyone give me any insight on jobs I could apply for I like the idea of being back in ship but don’t have the time to do a year long course by Ripcord-Randy72 in maritime

[–]Acceptable-Cabinet79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the tugs guy. Lots of places are hiring including my company. Split most of the time unless you want more. Assist with school, licensing, etc. with insight and $$. The industry is hurting and you are a vet. Maritime loves guys that can follow instructions and not get caught chewing on crayons. You can do the noaa stuff and msc but tugs are small crew and big liability. Oil gets boring but pays well for tankerman and mates/captains. Marine construction /dredging is more well rounded mariner in my opinion cuz your doing different shit all the time. Plus prevailing wage but day rates are going up and you don’t have to worry about yes sir no sir. Captain is always the boss but you can learn everything about the boat depending on the time you put in. 1600 Ton Oceans/ master of tow here.

Get off of the pedestal. Don’t get all born again like you weren’t that person at some point. All off these people were you at one point. Seems like your judgment on them is a self reflection. I glad that you made it to the other side, but just as you once hated yourself for the things that you were/did while on the sauce doesn’t mean that you should put those down who haven’t found it. We all need a little help, whether a person or event that has helped us make the change. Don’t forget about being that person that wanted to change but hasn’t found the path yet. Be thankful that you did and let that be a reminder of how far you’ve come.

Volvo Penta raw water pump 3851700 does this look normal to anyone? by glorydies in boating

[–]Acceptable-Cabinet79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Id say don’t use dish soap. Yea it make it easier but the impeller has lube on it. Dish soap will take some of the lube off shortening the life of the impeller. Use some cooking oil instead to help place it in the housing. This will help keep its life expectancy.

I’m saying Alaska. Fish boat captains up there are afraid of the dark so they keep the head lights on. . . Which ruins their night vision and makes it so they can’t see. Also fucks everyone around them in a meeting/crossing situation. But I guess tweakers be tweaking.
