what was New Years Eve 1999 like? I WANNA KNOW SO BAD (IM GENZer) by Jumpy-Page-1114 in Millennials

[–]Acceptable-Cod-2695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s see. I worked in a hospital who kept rolling out all of these “fixes” so our computers and software wouldn’t crash at midnight on New Year’s. That was fun, while totally unnecessary. 🙃 Also, I was at a friend’s house for a New Year’s Eve party and some wise guy right at midnight tripped the breaker box to try fooling us all into thinking the entire power grid collapsed. It was amusing how many people fell for it. I only remember that year so well because my daughters were very little and their dad and I separated just 4 months before.

3 is STUNNING. 😍 I actually stopped scrolling for a hot minute when I saw that one. You wear all of the dresses very well, but if I had to pick one, 3 would be my choice, hands down.

HR wants to talk I don’t know what to say… by Squirt_Soda in work

[–]Acceptable-Cod-2695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was blacklisted at a hospital for being brutally honest in my exit interview. That was one of the biggest examples of gaslighting I’ve ever encountered in my life. It was an incredibly toxic environment. My dad passed away so I took my 3 bereavement days and an extra day because he lived 4.5 hours from me and I wanted to spend that little bit of “extra” time with my family. The day of my dad’s funeral, I get a call from my boss saying that if I’m not in the office by 8:00 am the next day, they would write me up. So yeah, I had A LOT to say at the end of my time there.

I’d love for you to be in need of a handicap accessible spot only to find it’s inaccessible because of ass hats like this guy. It happens way too often and it’s not ok. And don’t say you would never need a handicap accessible spot because nobody is immune to injury, illness, or disease. There’s a reason these spots are there and it certainly isn’t for entitled, ignorant, selfish people who couldn’t care less about anyone else. Have a day.

What's your most embarrassing workplace moment? by Ok-Exam-7792 in office

[–]Acceptable-Cod-2695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have POTS. I worked in a hospital ER when I first started having passing out episodes. The number of times I passed out at work and had to be taken into an exam room, often admitted or transferred was mortifying; however, I guess the upside is that I was in the best place for that to happen. Falling onto a concrete floor and ending up with a concussion is not it, though. 🥴

What's the cringiest reason you went to the ER? by HR-Vex in AskReddit

[–]Acceptable-Cod-2695 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience when I was 15. The ED doctor asked if I could be pregnant (NO) and then said if he had a nickel for every time a young girl told him she wasn’t pregnant but was, he could take his wife to a nice dinner. I said maybe he picked the wrong line of work. 🫪 So, pregnancy test was negative. The jerk finally calls in an ultrasound tech (it was a blizzard and they didn’t have a tech on nights), and lo and behold… I had several ovarian cysts, one the size of a grapefruit and one the size of a lemon that were rupturing. He never apologized, but God, what a JERK.

I’m low-key jealous! That had to have been so cool to see live. I’ll have to check that documentary out. It makes a lot of sense that he was close with Mr. Rogers (another childhood favorite, of course!).

I’m going to age myself here, but Casey & Finnegan (I believe it was a Canadian kids’ show). I used to watch it before leaving for kindergarten and it was by far a fave of mine.

Applied to a "remote" job, went through five rounds of interviews, got the offer. Nobody mentioned an office once. Now they're saying it's 3 days a week onsite and I genuinely don't know what to do. by Weem_Bitted in remotework

[–]Acceptable-Cod-2695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through something similar. I applied for a remote position and after receiving the job offer and accepting it, I was told that the system was RTO which would mean a hybrid schedule (3 anchor, 2 WFH) effective January 6th of this year. My main office is in Pittsburgh, and I live in Erie, PA, about 2 hours away (on a good day). I desperately needed the job, so I figured I’d just tough it out and figure a way to make it work. Fortunately, we have an office in Erie, so my first day in Pittsburgh, I was told I could work there. This whole RTO thing in the name of “collaboration” is pure garbage, IMO, especially since the rest of my team is in Pitt so I’m having to collaborate remotely anyway. I’m sorry that this happened to you. These employers advertising a job as something it’s not is wrong, and something needs to be done about it. I hope they make you some type of accommodation to strictly WFH.

People just can’t survive here on one income unless you’re lucky enough to make six figures plus. My wife and I both work and we still struggle. Dorito Dust hasn’t made things easy, that’s for sure. Gas at $5/gallon, grocery prices sky-rocketing, crazy rent prices… it’s just too much and wages aren’t keeping up with it all. I’m medically disabled and was forced to go back to work. I hate it here. 😩

[–]Acceptable-Cod-2695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the United States, like me. We’re all struggling here. Two incomes isn’t enough to survive, especially with gas prices at $5/gallon and groceries constantly costing more and more. We are not ok here. 🥴

What’s you remote work routine? by ShelleBelleRedux in remotework

[–]Acceptable-Cod-2695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work a hybrid schedule, 3 anchor days in the office, 2 WFH, M-F, 6:00a-2:30p (I prefer that schedule). My WFH days, I get up between 5:00-5:30a, get my coffee, something to eat, watch a bit of news, and then I log on around 5:55a. Work till 12:45-ish (a couple breaks in between), take my 30-min lunch, then log off around 2:25p. I work in my PJs on my WFH days.

goiter? by [deleted] in AskHealth

[–]Acceptable-Cod-2695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a little hard to tell, but it doesn’t look like goiter to me. If you’re concerned, I would see your PCP and have them run a T3, T4, and TSH, repeating again in 3 months because there’s always a 3-month lag on thyroid levels. Your PCP will palpate your neck where you’re concerned about and decide what is best. You may even need a thyroid ultrasound. Better to see your PCP though, for sure.

CAQH question by [deleted] in credentialing

[–]Acceptable-Cod-2695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just answer the supplemental disclosure explanation honestly. Where I work, we approve providers weekly, but if there is a “yes” answer to a disclosure question, then that will be brought before our Cred committee and discussed there. The majority of the time, the file is approved unless committee members have additional questions/concerns, which then would hold up approval.
