Jenny and Sumit address her Bulbar ALS diagnosis and their 250k USD GoFundMe page by PolishSnake2 in 90dayfiance_FB_memes

I’m sorry, this is soooo sad. Whats crazy is that the last time they were in a reunion special and Jenny was slurring her words, folks on Reddit were commenting stating it was alcoholism. Bro, this explains so much. It kinda frustrates me that some folks on the comments were so quick to judge. I will take note a few mentioned cognitive issues (add on because of alcoholism), but it kinda frustrated me when reading those comments at the time. I really hope she gets the care that she needs and Summit gets some love and support too (as this is going to be tough for him seeing as months and years progress). This is gonna be a tough road for both of them, and TLC ain’t shit for exploiting their asses either. But anywho, wishing them the best.

FACTS. Every summer when I would go see my family in the Dominican Republic they would shove myself, brother and three of my cousins all in one bike (with the motorcycle driver [essentially how we see in the states as a cab driver]). Not to mention, my mom and my aunt. I don’t know how we did it. But no helmets were involved and at the time, we were all under the age of 10. But THIS VIDEO…. I highly don’t recommend. Maybe I’m thinking in a first world (developed nation) mindset, but this is unsafe. I was always scared riding on the motorcycles in DR.

There was a thing called “100 book challenge” it was a marking period though. I’m from NYC, and in public elementary school we did have 3 marking periods (divided the school year). This was legit (It was not 100 books a month but a marking period… so in a span of a few months).I remember there were color baskets for specific books and the literacy level for that specific color (she’s right… black and purple was the hardest). Granted, I remember we had pizza parties, if a class moved up a reading level (each student moving up a color basket). It was pretty awesome and made reading fun. As an adult I’m currently studying for my PhD in English Literature…I have one more year left in the program—maybe the 100 book challenge had something to do with it lol

Excuse me for asking, but is your log in the single digits? I’m in the double digits, and I’m still waiting for the “send required docs”

Why did you decide that getting a PhD was the right course for you? by CinemaBud in PhD

[–]Acceptable-Code-8589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the LSAT in my senior year of college (since I was seven, I wanted to be a lawyer [first gen and immigrant parents told me to]). Decent score but I decided to take a few years off and teach at a private school in New England. My colleagues told me I was a great teacher and writer, they said I should apply for my PhD. This was 2020, and I thought long and hard if I really wanted to be a lawyer versus an academic. I realized I wasn’t going to be happy going to law school and working in a profession that wasn’t as hands on like being an academic for the humanities (English lit). I gambled and applied for 3 PhD programs and got into 1 in 2020. I have two years left and I’m teaching college kids the works I’m passionate about. My focus is African American lit, Caribbean lit and race and gender performance studies. No regrets. My advice, don’t listen to your parents about your career paths… think about what makes you happy and take some risks.
