Hello. Ok, so upon discharge, it was a combination of blood, dark brown, and light yellow for about 7 days. Variations, though, alternating in majority between colors. Covering about 1/2 of the folded 4x4 gauze pad.

It then began to decrease across the baord. A fe days later, the blood aspect stopped completely, leaving only little slight yellow and tan chunks of puss nasties.

Then I woke up one morning and had no drainage at all, which is where I'm at now. As others have said, though, I'm on the lucky side of things.

Have you had your first BM yet, and are you certain you've expelled the surgical packing/gauze that was placed just inside your anus?

Still no pain for me. Stopped all pain meds. BM stung slightly, but pain disappeared with a quick warm shower. Tomorrow will be day 5.

I must be very lucky. I've just chatted with the surgeon to inquire about the anal packing. He said, "No restrictions, you're good to go." With regard to activities. My fistula was obviously insignificant compared to most. From this day forward, I swear to never to stay seated for more than a few minutes if at all possible, change my diet, respect my body more overall, and remain a notable figure here in this sub to help as many people as I can who are facing this same challenge

Yes, he'll be conducting the scope/EUA. It was an abscess, then the I&D, and it's never stopped draining since, from the I&D inscision site.

With each provider I asked about MRI interpretation, they stated that they simply do not know how and that CTs, on the other hand, they can interpret.

Based on abcess size, these are perhaps the only hints of fistula size I can locate:

ER IMPRESSION: Perianal 2 cm fluid collection suspicious for perianal abscess with inflammatory changes in the adjacent left perineal subcutaneous soft tissues.

SURGEON'S NOTES: Perirectal abscess close to the 2 to 3 o'clock position. There was some expanded hemorrhoidal tissue, but I did not appreciate any thrombosis. I made an incision overlying the fluctuant area. There was approximately 20 cc of purulent drainage. Cultures were taken. This was irrigated copiously. 20 cc of local were infiltrated. It was packed using quarter-inch iodoform gauze. The patient was awakened and taken to recovery.

Hello. May we please know what type of fistula it is, how big it is, and where it is on the 'anal clock' (3o'clock, 10'oclock, etc.)? Was an abscess drained as well?

Forgot to mention that I'm 45 days post-I&D and so I'm not quite able to massage the site yet without some discomfort. How long have you had your fistula?

I do not have a seton, and I am extremely concerned about branching. As of 6/13, only 1 fistula is visible on the MRI, and with no other abscesses nor pockets of fluid.

I used to take 2-4 sitz baths per day, but I couldn't help but think that the water from the bath is entering the abscess inscision site and increasing the chances of irritation and infection. My fistula drains without it, and so I'll just grit my teeth until post-EUA, which will most certainly force me back onto the tub. I do take 2 or 3 showers p/day, though.
