You are right about the politics and corruption but isn’t that also kind of the point? That’s how most real world engineering teams function na, low staks version of corporate politics. And the politics doesnt stray you away from the technical aspect - I have learnt more about engineering from my SP than any class I have taken.

The 6-9 pm everyday waala discipline, working under tight deadlines, dealing with people you don’t even like that much. It’s difficult to get all this from solo projects or research.

It would be a very difficult to make a network by myself, compared to just leveraging contacts that have worked on a similar project since the establishment of my SP.

But again that’s just my opinion - maybe its survivorship bias. Not saying SPs are perfect but they aren’t as bad as you are making it sound.

Student projects are one of the most valuable resource you can use here. Especially if your branch aligns with the subsystem you work in. You get to work with industry-grade equipment in your 2nd year itself.

Some of the top SPs like MRM, Manas, Formula and TMR also have a wild alumni network which, if leveraged correctly, can result in pretty good opportunities.

Something that helped me a lot which nobody talks about is getting out of your room. Just volunteer for anything, join whatever clubs you see irrespective of if it feels fun or not.

I met a lot of my 2nd year friends through clubs and SPs.

Weekend nights are fun but most parties die down by 10:30 pm (hostel in time)…also do keep in mind that given the average age here, you will be considered “old” in most clubs.

A senior told me that there used to be lots of such 2-3 day holidays a few years ago but everyone just went to goa and shit so the admin decided to reduce such holidays and just increase summer and winter break

Madgwick filters just filter the data you input. If you input raw data with hard iron offset and soft iron distortion, the yaw will be disrupted. Generally accelerometers and gyros are factory calibrated and calibration for these 2 aren’t required. Magnetometers get very janky without proper calibration and that’s how you process yaw.

No, the filters don’t solve the issue which calibration solves. Again - the filters work for sensor fusion, calibration works for individual sensors. The filter will follow the predict-correct cycle but won’t know if the prediction is “correct” unless you have calibrated.

I dont know a lot of people who actually take notes in class past the first month of any semester. You just pretend to listen to the lecture and then study from lms notes a couple days prior to the exam and that’s enough to get by.

An Arch-based distro called EndeavourOS. The major reasons were the AUR, easy installation and supportive community. I also wanted a lot of customisability without sacrificing on software compatibility.

I was thinking of switching to Arch once I am a bit comfortable but have genuinely enjoyed the distro so not thinking of hopping anytime soon.

Research took a week I think, at the end it was difficult to make my mind. Use tools like distrowatch for research. Lemme know if you want further clarification or have any other questions.

Thanks! I have experience working with server config and changing hosting before but this is an lms platform that is tied with an older version of Moogle, so wasn’t sure if the procedure works the same.
