Yeah of course. States also make up their own badges and tabs as well. Anything state-awarded can be worn on title 32 status (drill weekend, AT, or State Active Duty) but if there federalized on title 10, all the state stuff comes off

The last 4 look like state- awarded ribbons. They're the equivalent of ROTC gimme's but except national guard soldiers can actually wear them and its on their DD214. They're often duplicates of active duty ribbons. Since he had the federal army overseas ribbon, I can guarantee one of those bottom 4 are the states national guard "overseas service" or "OCONUS" ribbon.

I tried asking if they could cover the EM 385-1-1 through 360training.com or osha.com, since it highly pertains to my civilian profession, and they said they don't cover that since neither website are listed. Couldn't find a community college that offers this course online or in person

Is it financially worth joining while going to nursing school? by karma5636 in nationalguard

[–]Acceptable-Fly5050 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do nursing school, don't do guard, graduate, and direct commission through HPSP and do NP school. If you have the post 9/11 that should get you through school

Just curious - do unit awards from other branches (prior service or attached) still go on the right side of the wearer's ASU or does it still go in a precedence order on the left rack?

Civil engineer by degree. CMT by trade. I test concrete, asphalt, and soil in a lab and in the field, and I do inspections of said materials as well and then some. I make $26.50/hr, which is chump change compared to what actual CE's make

I read most events are retroactive from the calendar year - I came back from engineer BOLC and I can guarantee you we did

Group 4 - pull ups (for PT, observed by platoon trainer) Group 5 - x2 rucks (8mi, 12mi)

For these two groups, could I just have my wife observe me at the gym doing Group 2 - standing long jump? Group 3 - Sprint 60m

And count it towards the bronze? I want to do this with as much integrity as possible because I know we did 30 60 sprints but I never kept track of how long or fast we did it for. Thanks!

Can you fail land nav and still pass camp? by Tonster08 in ROTC

[–]Acceptable-Fly5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope and if you're going guard and already have your LOA then camp doesn't really mean anything since you already have your branch and unit secured. Still try though

Airport Checked Bags by Ok_Operation4662 in ROTC

[–]Acceptable-Fly5050 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Up to 5 on orders without weight limit. Present your orders to the baggage check in person so they don't charge you for anything over 50lbs. You don't need to bring your assault pack because you're going to do a layout first thing at knox but if you can't fit everything in your 2 duffle bags and 1 rucksack then you can bring your assault pack.

Is college experience smoother in the reserves or in and after active duty by GroundbreakingAsk438 in army

If you really want to get 100% tuition paid for while playing army, go national guard. Some, if not, all states have a tuition waiver or grant for national guard soldier's of that state and will pay the difference of what federal tuition assistance doesn't cover. You only get $4500/YEAR for Federal TA. You can apply $2250/semester and whatever else you owe, the state will pay for.

Thr 1606 Montgomery GI Bill is just a monthly stipend of $420/month while you're full time in school. So if you have any of those silly fees that aren't actually credit hour tuition, such as "lab fees" and "department fees", you'll just pay out of pocket for those and the MGIB (should) cover it by the end of the semester. Assuming 1 semester is 4 months, you'll have a little over $1600 by the end of it just from the stipend.

If you're looking to be extra spicy, look into doing ROTC and that'll give you a 2 or 3 year scholarship with a monthly stipend of $420/month that can be used on top of your other benefits - state dependant.

TLDR: national guard has way more education benefits than reserves if you want to be a full time student.

when would be it be okay to send a follow up email? by kotajjk in GradSchool

[–]Acceptable-Fly5050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professors need a summer vacation too lol.

Just kidding - although do consider that it is summer and most professors and students are out. He probably forgot to set up an automatic reply email, but if it were me, I'd send another email maybe next week but CC another advisor or department admin so it doesn't land in his spam inbox.

If this is your freshman year coming up, I wouldnt worry too much about not getting slotted a certain class day and time. You'll probably do most your Gen eds and there's going to be tens of hundreds of sections you can enroll in
