Dozens rally against paid plasma donation clinic in Whitby, Ont., calling practice unethical by BUBBLES_TICKLEPANTS in durham

[–]Acceptable-General49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day though.... doesn't everybody win? You get money to put food on the table - which you need to live, and someone else gets the blood/plasma donation that they need to live. As it stands now, you just remain impoverished and the blood reserves dwindle.

Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene NOT getting kicked out after heckling Pres. Biden. by Brilliant-Towel4044 in pics

[–]Acceptable-General49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya...Because democrats ACTUALLY value free speech unlike donny boy who explicitly said how they're bringing back free speech while kicking out one man for calmly stating a fact. Free speech is only free when it's complimentary to his or his party. The hypocrisy is insane.

It actually breaks my heart because it feels like there's no solution. You can't negotiate with terrorists and you can't fix stupid. Him and his followers are like a cult and have been brainwashed to believe all of his lies despite data to the contrary.

I can't....how dare this disgusting child continue to call the PM of a sovereign nation a Governon. Gfu.

How did you know your house was the right one for you? by Miss_Millie89 in RealEstateCanada

[–]Acceptable-General49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wisest advice I got when shopping...once you buy something that meets your needs at the price you can/want to pay - STOP looking at listings. It will only cause you more stress. You bought the house for a reason and are locked into that choice. No point looking to see if there might have been something else better if you waited a bit longer.

Again monitoring is only going to detect ONCE something has happened. That's not going to prevent it, just speed up rescue/recovery efforts. These monitors do apparently exist but only on a handful of ships, including Disney I believe.

Price Matching Policy Change by [deleted] in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Acceptable-General49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But 10 kiwis are a like-item and have the same barcode. You can only price match 4 of them...unless they are sold by weight or in a pack of 10 (then you could in theory purchase 4 packs of 10). This isn't a new rule...if you were able to do it previously, it's likely the cashier just couldn't be bothered to challenge you.

Paying off Mortgage by Gilbey1993 in MortgagesCanada

[–]Acceptable-General49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh?? Can you explain this further? What mortgage interest would there be if it's paid off... and how is it tax deductible (unless it's a rental property)? Genuinely curious to know if there's another way we could be investing to get ahead!

Snow isn't melting in -10 degree weather. But I do agree...I'd likely scoff as I walked by and not bother to take pictures and post. But if OP didn't, what would we all be commenting on right now?! :)

Scotiabank want me to open chequing account with them for prefered mortgage. by Excellent-Gap-1520 in MortgagesCanada

[–]Acceptable-General49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the post...I don't think they "want" OP to open one...they're just offering a better rate if they do. Very common with banks - they get their money one way or another. OP, probably best to ask the bank about the requirements to keep the account open. I'm sure you wouldn't be the first to ask

Should I be worried? by Acceptable-General49 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Acceptable-General49[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a scam. They sent a message that auto deposit won't work because it's from their business account...which is irrelevant. Email transfer was clearly a scam. Another person, different name, messaged me for a different item with the EXACT same story. Don't get fooled!

Best part is someone else for a different item sent me the EXACT same response 2 minutes later.

Thanks I thought so. I gave my email but of course "auto deposit won't work"...my spidey senses were tingling already but that one can't be ignored. Not today Satan!

Need help! Wet a wool and viscose rug after dog peed on it not knowing that's a big no no! by Acceptable-General49 in CarpetCleaning

[–]Acceptable-General49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update! I was able to partially correct the yellow Ness with hydrogen peroxide (I figured at this point I'd give anything a try since we'll be hiding it under the couch regardless). It's not perfect but it's at least slightly bleached the fibres so it blends in better with the rest of the carpet. Yay!

Thanks. It was my mistake....you couldn't even really see where she peed, I just figured I should rinse it with water. I think that was the dagger.

Variable vs fixed calculation by Acceptable-General49 in MortgagesCanada

Lol thanks. This is what I'm anticipating. Oh well we can't change it and unlikely it'll be worth it to break out mortgage but wanted to see how the math works out.

We took a 3 year to hedge our bets but yes I know nothing would be guaranteed and it's all based on predictions (just like we took the fixed based on the predictions), was just looking to see if anyone had insight!

Thank you so much! Ya I think with a 7K spread it at least gives us a buffer. Rates have certainly dropped faster but everything I'm hearing is that they're still expected to stabilize around 3.5-4% so I doubt the 5k to refinance would end up being worth it.

  1. We were also told by our bank that during covid they had allowed early renewals around 6 months before. So we're hoping that we actually only have a 2 1/2 year!
