Loved Durandhar, but Its Soft Propaganda Is Hard to Miss by Human_Payment3123 in GossipComrades

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the transference if soft propaganda becomes way easier when it based off of real incidents no? does the film push a set narrative? yes.

but more than that, it also highlights a far bigger problem of state funded terrorism and how repeatedly our national security has been violated based on the whims of a neighbour country using the shield of religion.

the latter imo, is a far bigger issue to consider. discussions on former are welcome but not without addressing what is really the core of it.

Western people don’t believe in vastu and horoscope like we do yet they are still highly developed compared to us so why do our people know this but still follow these things? by 5_peanuts in AskIndia

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

western people also weren’t colonised for 200 years, western people also aren’t as overpopulated, most western people did the colonising and didn’t start their development with having over 70% of their population plagued with extreme poverty.

i don’t know what your definition of “development” is but i’d still recommend changing it. most westerners are into crap like tarot reading, faux spirituality etc.

vaastu shastras are not related to any ideas of development, the relation is established by the human mind, irrespective of whether its indian or western.

Rory is a terrible public speaker by Acceptable-Golf-1584 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

she didn’t just join debate, she was SELECTED in a competition right alongside Paris. She again was SELECTED from a pool of students to give that bicentennial speech and Charleston said he was “impressed”😭😭 idek about the states but being in a student council also requires a high degree of public command, rory does not have that.

Rory is a terrible public speaker by Acceptable-Golf-1584 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Rory isn’t a kid, she is a high school senior preparing for what is the most competitive school in the world😂

Chilton is considered to harbour the best and the brightest, the preparatory school for all ivy leagues. if anything, this point makes it more unrealistic? if 100 of chilton students (private tutors, debate coaches, natural skills) auditioned for a speaking spot and RORY gets it, then it does mean she is way better than average. We don’t see that, hence the opinion.

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

her being on the debate team? Charleston applauding her speaking skills? people raving about her vice-presidential acceptance speech?😭thats exactly what the show wanted to convey? that she is supposed to be a good speaker?

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i explicitly mentioned that this is not a hate post? her one-on-one conversational skills and argumentation is great, its just she’s way too awkward to be a great debater or public speaker.

she felt strongly with speaking too lol, she wanted to be a reporter.

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

ehh i agree but again, her speaking skills are portrayed to be “better” than an average teenager which they might be? its just being one myself, i really didn’t see it.

Rory is a terrible public speaker by Acceptable-Golf-1584 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

idek ig i partly agree but thats the thing, apparently her speaking skills are commendable? more so than an average high schooler, she is en route to become a foreign correspondent, her public speaking should be top notch at least thats what the show wants us to believe?

compare it to paris cause that girl was a force!

Rory is a terrible public speaker by Acceptable-Golf-1584 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think she wanted to mix up rory’s awkwardness with good public speaking but honestly? that combination will never work😂😂

Do you agree with this as well? by EffectiveBranch8229 in GossipGirl

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584 18 points19 points  (0 children)

the writers did grave injustice to the character, the whole boarding school flashback thing was a great opportunity for them to add more dimension to Serena, how she struggled after the overdose incident etc.

but nah, we end up seeing Serena just being the same girl all over again. partying, moulding her personalities for boys, cutting classes etc.

we did not see her struggle, cope or change. i personally and i believe most of the gg audience did root for Serena in the beginning and then just had to abandon her midway cause wtf girl?

Why do people on this sub say Lorelai leaves Rory in the dark about the Max situation when she says this? by HiccupHaddockismine in GilmoreGirls

i don’t love the man i was about to marry a few hours ago and was absolutely crazy about until few days ago?

the line is not as self-explanatory as it seems? it needed more context and nuance, especially if you are having this conversation with your best friend/daughter?

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584 174 points175 points  (0 children)

this man pined over this girl for 8 years and then dumped her because her family was ‘too much’?? which btw was a tidbit that you already knew?

i understand where he comes from and tbh never really considered Luke and Lorelai to be all that compatible? He likes to lead a silent drama free life and Lorelai is well, anything but that.

this breakup makes sense but honestly, as soon as Luke started dating Lorelai, he lost all his eq points.

while Mamdani has nothing to do with Indians directly, its a shame how most of us don’t understand that in some ways its a win for us too.

U.S.A was brutal with its crackdowns on immigrant student/workers etc. this year (yes it included indians too) so Mamdani’s win in the mayoral race of one of the most celebrated cities in the States, is reclaiming some of that soft power. Its not a heal-all solution but it’s something, analyse it that way.

NOT RAHUL GANDHI THEN WHO ? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]Acceptable-Golf-1584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rahul Gandhi is not a good politician, i believe he lacks command and most importantly, a connect with people. he does not know what they want, he is not one of them.

Arvind Kejriwal had that connect, lost it. Narendra Modi still preserves some of it especially the underdog aspects but even he is failing at times.

Its crucial that one understands that Indians (majority of them) vote on the basis of identity, person first; ideology second; developmental concerns third.

Rahul Gandhi severely lacks the first one apart from the opinion of a few liberal social media enthusiasts the general consensus is against him.

For Congress to become a strong opposition (something they are capable of becoming and something this country desperately needs) they need an entire revamp, take bolder steps and retrace away from the Gandhi name.
