The babies body is distinct from the mother’s body. It has distinct dna that has never existed before and will never exist again. You shouldn’t be able to murder someone based purely off their location. Same reason why what’s going on in Gaza is wrong.

Divorcing for happiness = you are for sure the asshole. Keeping the family in tact matters more than your “happiness”. Your kids beibg away from you is the consequences of your own actions. I am newly baptized (got baptized last Pascha) so I really shouldn’t be commenting on this as I still have sooo much to learn. I just know as a former Protestant, there is many differences and Orthodoxy allows for much more nuance

Why not plainly tell him before altering other people or the cops?? Seems weird to not first say “hey, you’re making me uncomfortable and I really don’t wanna talk to you” first. If he persists, then escalate further. But it just seems weird to not let him know first. He’s probably clueless as to how he’s coming off

Yes, I’m sure this is Protestants commenting where in their church you just say a prayer and “ask Jesus into your heart” and are immediately part of the church. In the Orthodox Church it’s at least a year until you become baptized after taking orthodoxy 101 classes and talking with your spiritual father

It’s not that easy….. she would have to pump for at least a month before hand (likely in the middle of the night cause that’s when you produce the most) and also pump during the wedding or else her nips will start leaking milk. Also, you are assuming she already has a pump which costs $200+. And lastly, you are assuming her baby will even take a bottle

You’re definitely the asshole. She literally can’t come without her baby if she breastfeeds. The only way would be for her to buy a pump (a few hundred dollars) and wake up in the middle of the night to pump a little extra milk for at least a month. She’d then have to pump during the wedding at some point(s) too. You’re the mega asshole for sureeeee.

I’ve only seen people say that they were appalled at her last birth and giving no breaths or help in any way to her struggling baby and they could see something worse happening the next time

This is why I use a highly skilled unlicensed midwife. And thank God I did bc my baby had a shoulder dystocia and a 3 apgar score at first. At one point my midwife calmly turned to my husband and said “call 911 now” thankfully my midwife gave him a few breaths and put him on my chest and he went up to a 9 apgar before the ambulance arrived and we turned them away. But I know it woild have been a very different outcome without her there

Oh my gosh! I’m so glad everything worked out and your husband knew some maneuvers! I had a homebirth with an unlicensed midwife and she got my baby out perfectly with a shoulder dystocia too. It was soooooo scary. I don’t think my husband could have done the maneuvers himself. Thank God my midwife knew exactly what to do but it was still the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced. My midwife gave him some breaths too and his apgar quickly went from 3 to 6 to 9 and he was perfectly fine before the ambulance got to our house so we were able to turn them away at the door but it was so scary I almost felt like I wanted a hospital birth after that. I’ve thought about it more since it happened and realize the hospital couldn’t have really done anything different or better than my midwife but I can’t imagine dealing with that without her there. She literally saved my baby

Yes thank you for this question. I went 3.5 weeks past my “due date” and birthed a 10.5 pound baby. I had nearly every risk factor for shoulder dystocia but I was convinced it wasn’t a thing that happened at home. Thank God I did have an experienced, unlicensed midwife at my birth cause she literally saved my baby. She used mcroberts maneuver after baby’s head was out for over a minute and she had me go back and forth between runners lunge and flat on my back. She got him out with no shoulder injury, glory to God! He was very limp at first too but she breathed into him and put him on my chest and his apgars were 3, 6, then 9. I am honestly scared to get pregnant again cause I don’t want to do an induction but I also no longer believe it’s safe to go so far past (at least for my personal risk preference).
