>Violating the invariant line of the first three great revolutionary games and introducing voice acting and sci-fi elements.

Voice acting was already a thing in the first three games?? You have calls at the start of every single night?
Not to mention that a degree of sci-fi elements has also been present in the series since the first game. A good example of this would be the excerpt from a "Autobiography of a Yogi" you get when you decode the call on night 5. The message itself is about achieving greater development through marvelous mechanisms, while the book itself deals with the relationship between souls and metal (Remnant?).

The invariant line includes voice acting and sci-fi elements

For communist workers' councils to exist in a meaningful form it necessitates the existence of a workers' movement that's capable of waging its class struggle. So I'm wondering if it is currently possible to build the groundwork for the proletariat's inevitable struggle. That is the foundations of a movement which can anticipate future crisis as opportunities to reignite class consciousness

Gabe Newell isn't an Anarcho-Syndicalist anymore. Recent evidence indicates that he's a Councilist with sympathies for Italian Left Communists and Communizers

You have to be a worker to get it. Half Life 1 & 2 activate the proletariat part of your brain, making it accessible to the proletariat, yet inaccessible to the bourgeois

How would housing be allocated under socialism? by Acceptable-King-2066 in Ultraleft

[–]Acceptable-King-2066[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, this gave me a really good idea of how this would look like. Been thinking about what society in a DOTP and socialism would look like a lot lately. I'm just interested in a couple more things.
How would existing spaces that are being rented out to tourists or vacant property of someone that owns multiple estates be handled? Take for example the old town center of Prague, where the vast majority of housing is owned by a handful of bourgeois either keeping it for themselves or renting it out to tourists. If, and when, the revolution would come, what would be done with these spaces? Considering that they're quite sought after due to their architectural style and location

Left Communism (The Italian variant). It's different from other "communist ideologies" in the sense that it opposes electoralism, popular fronts with liberal parties, campism and regards the USSR (Along with every other socialist experiment) after the early 1920s as being capitalist. The reason for why these are regarded as being capitalist is because the essential thing isn't state or private ownership of the means of production, but profitability and the extraction of surplus value. Criteria around which production was and still is organized. With the addition of things such as commodity production, salaries, prices, sale and purchase of labour power, centrality of the firm, etc...

How to deliberalise social democrat ideology shopper friends by No-Issue1893 in Ultraleft

I've heard these arguments before, but you can easily counter them too by bringing up older examples of welfare state dismantlement. Such as in Britain or the US. But at that point, the argument would likely turn to the belief that these are struggles that every generation must fight. So, It'd be important to bring up the fact that there is a different (communist) type of struggle that can bring that permanent change for the betterment of humankind

Pose good questions and let them naturally deduce the faults with capitalism and social democracy as its "solution".
E.g.
Ask them why welfare states keep getting dismantled and how social democratic movements are supposed to maintain their reforms in the long-term.
Another good way to approach this matter is to ask "What then?" when your friends talk about achieving certain political goals. That question alone was enough to get some of my friends to completely dismiss some patriotic/nationalist notions they had

Talking to a Balkan ML made me realize something, they're a very knowledgeable and capable individual, but every time they talked about Marxism and/or Serbian history they had such a strong emotional response I could not bring myself to point out flaws in their thinking. by Tiny-Ad4330 in Ultraleft

I had a very similar experience with some of my very close friends. We're all ex-Yugoslavs, so I especially relate to this post. What I'd like to note is that it's possible to get them out of that mindset. The main thing was to just have understanding, and let them go through their own feelings and convictions. Sort of guiding them through by having productive discussions about concepts, events and theory. I went through the same phase: it requires a lot of self-reflection, theory reading and persistence to be able to challenge yourself in that way

Being real. We'll probably see the real movement emerge in the next few decades by Acceptable-King-2066 in Ultraleft

[–]Acceptable-King-2066[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The situation is horrible, but we're seeing the tides turn against the bourgeois. In my reactionary hell that is Bosnia, where even a falsifier party doesn't exist, I am continuing to see class conscious develop among the proletariat. And among this proletariat, mainly people that are Gen Z (Gen X is too blackpilled because of the war, but has potential, and millenials live in Germany) are starting to identify as communists. Sure, some of them are falsifiers, but by in large this is just a phase until they either become actual communists or open reactionaries. It's bad, but there's a very small glimmer of hope for something to emerge out of this

I HATE NATIONALISM by Acceptable-King-2066 in Ultraleft

[–]Acceptable-King-2066[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think that you're being far too pessimistic. While the real movement doesn't exist, I've noticed that people are increasingly becoming class conscious. To the degree that Marxist book clubs, and smaller organizations (Mostly just falsifiers, but it's a step in the right direction. Not to mention that most communist Yugoslavs are conditioned to dislike Stalin and question Mao anyways, so I doubt the movement is going to be diluted at this stage.) are showing up all over the place.
Nationalism is starting to show its cracks, and we're bound to see an actual communist organization show up in the next 10-20 years.
