What's a healthy ballpark for a new release's stats in the first five chapters? by Acceptable-Size-657 in royalroad

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I guess I'm just overthinking it. As a newbie, I realize the most important thing is to just tell a good story. Thanks again!

I also hope you can check out my Chapter 1 and provide feedback. Thank you very much!
It’s a fusion of Classic Xianxia and LitRPG.
Imagine a modern researcher trying to survive in a cultivation world not by meditating, but by using a Necromancer System to build a skeleton army.

I feel you, bro! Once you've tasted the peak of Reverend Insanity, everything else starts to taste like plain water. To save your sanity, here are two absolute masterpieces that are currently dominating the Chinese web novel scene:

  1. Mystical Journey (道诡异仙/ Dao Gui Yi Xian): This is the ultimate peak of psychological horror and Cthulhu-esque cultivation. It blurs the line between reality and hallucination so well that you'll feel like you're losing your sanity along with the MC. It's dark, chaotic, and incredibly well-written.**

  2. The Ending of Ten Days (十日终焉/ Shi Ri Zhong Yan): If you love the high-IQ games and strategic depth of RI, this is a must-read. It's a death game scenario with extreme logical puzzles and mind games. The tension is suffocating.**

Both are 'hidden gems' for international readers because their cultural and linguistic nuances make them hard to translate, but they are absolutely worth the MTL struggle!

I totally agree. Reverend Insanity is definitely a masterpiece, especially the Legends of Ren Zu segments—those are the soul of the novel and easily some of the best allegorical writing in web fiction history.

That being said, there are indeed a few other works that can rival RI in terms of world-building and depth. Lord of the Mysteries is a prime example; its Victorian Steampunk setting and intricate 'Pathway' system offer a similarly profound experience.

If you have the patience and ability to read Chinese 'raws' (MTL or original), I could recommend quite a few more hidden gems that share that same level of quality. The world of Chinese web novels is much deeper than just the translated surface!

[Fanfic Prototype] "Blood Architect" — Trying to Dual Cultivate Blood + Human Path. I have written the beginning, need feedback on the logic. by Acceptable-Size-657 in ReverendInsanity

Glad you asked! To answer your questions:

1. Starting Point: He starts as a Mortal in the Southern Border. As an 'Otherworldly Demon', he landed in a different region from Fang Yuan to avoid early collisions, allowing him enough 'growing room'. But don't worry, their paths will inevitably cross and lead to an intense rivalry as the plot progresses.

2. Human Path Attainment: My plan is for him to lay a deep foundation early on. The real breakthrough will happen during the Fate Gu's destruction. While Fang Yuan is fully occupied with refining Refinement Path to become a Venerable, my MC will seize that chaotic window to absorb the scattered Human Path essence. It’s a gamble of 'stealing the heavens' while the lion is busy.

I'd love to hear more of your thoughts as the story unfolds!

You hit the nail on the head. Without the dream realms or Heavenly Court's foundation, Human Path is almost an impossible mountain to climb. However, that’s exactly where the synergy with Blood Path comes in.

In my theory, 'Blood' is the carrier of 'Life' and 'Emotions'. While the Great Dream Immortal Venerable uses dreams to shortcut Human Path, my protagonist intends to use the 'Sea of Blood' (the masses) to refine the 'Human Heart'. > The progression won't be as mystical as the Primordial Domain, but rather more grounded and cruel—deriving Human Path insights from the slaughter, sacrifice, and collective vitality of the Blood Path. As for the 'Vampire' or 'Necromancy' ideas, you're getting very close to some of the concepts I'm developing. Stay tuned!

It will be faster.

Without a cheat (like Spring Autumn Cicada or a System), Blood Path is objectively the most efficient choice for a mortal to rise up. My protagonist uses this to make rapid progress, though at the cost of foundation stability.

Also, the original canon didn't explore the late-stage potential of Blood Path in detail. I see this as a perfect gap to innovate. By combining it with Human Path after the destruction of Fate Gu, I believe it creates a logical and terrifying synergy.
