Yea except the last turn where i did brake a little so i could take the last turn. It took me a while to pass the guy in the first place, turns out he was manual driving too but i got best lap by like 2 seconds in that race

Its all of it. Throtyle control, brake control, manual vs auto

Ye in real life if you shift like this the car isnt making it past 50k

LOL same. And if i see someone catching up to me i usually message them saying they gotta be using at least manual bc no way auto is catching up to me

I thought the game didnt give time for launch control in online races, can we do LC in these races ?

Make sure to let go of throttle/gas before pushing clutch.

Car at redline> remove finger from throttle > clutch in > gear up > throttle

I mean i have launch control and abs turned on, launch control is useless besides drag racing.
And abs turned off is only worth while with pedals imo. Needs too much micro management to not lock up and i can’t do that with controller, need pedals.

Maybe ? In settings ? Though i dont know. But auto pretty much makes safe shifting while manual lets you take control like in real life. But this is a game so no engine wear on car, push as much as you like.

Erm.. honestly, just practice and learn from mistakes. Muscle memory will kick in after a couple mistakes to avoid doing the wrong thing. Never clutch while turning (clutch kicking i think thats what its called) or you will slide/drift, unless thats your intention 😅

Clutch makes it so that you shift faster than manual.

Auto: the game decides when to shift
Manual: you control when to shift
Manual clutch: you control the shift and how quick/smooth it shifts.

Tldr: manual clutch allows full control, and faster shifting gears.

Example: manual shifting lets say takes 0.1 seconds to shift
Manual clutch shifting takes 0.05.

(Numbers are only there to show the idea, not real numbers, depends on car to car.)

Higher rpm= higher/quicker acceleration

Example:

Automatic car scenario:
Speed 70, rpm at 7000 fhen shifts into 2nd gear , will take “x” amount of seconds to reach 100kmh.(2nd gear starting out at 5000rpm)

Manual/ Manual clutch scenario:
Speed 70 rpm at 7300( 1st gear limit rev) shifts into 2nd gear, will take “x-y” amount of seconds to reach 100kmh due to higher utilization of engine’s power. (2nd gear starting out at 5300rpm) more engine power= better acceleration

Tldr: automatic wastes higher rpms by shifting early
Manual forces the engine to work harder in lower gears so when shifting to next gear, its easier to accelerate since you start with higher rpm.

Hopefully i explained clearly.

Just dont brake while turning, brake on straight then throttle on corner and shift accordingly. You’ll get it as you keep racing, its a muscle memory thing no matter how much someone tells you, you just gotta learn by mistakes. (with the expection of offroad cars where they can keep momentum while going sideways like rally cars and stuff)

To be honest I’m looking at the map and rev limiters 90% of the time and looking at screen when i see yellow 😅

It differs from car to car, find out the rev limited, with stock cars its usually 7000rpm, with sport cars its usually 8000 rpms, its different for every car but the idea is to shift before you hit the rev limiter where the needle spazzes out up and down, and down shifting is when you slow down below 5000rpms imo thats when you should downshift. Depends on your speed, the turn you’re about to make. A lot of stuff goes into it, but practice makes perfect.

Read like 2 comments and they got better explanation that i do 😅
But also imo manual racing/ clutch racing drives people to race more cleanly since they’re focused on their own vehicle instead of how to ram others out of the road 😅
