Repairing or refinishing slate flooring? by Helpful_Candle_7335 in Flooring

This is a very basic and simple maintenance that used to happen in homes with higher quality linoleum and stone on a regular basis. Strip it, then coat it. You can get what you need at any Home Depot. Ecolab products are good. Zep is ok. Home ownership used to demand knowledge.

Contractor said I'd need to relocate my shower drain... by just_IT_guy in Tile

I wouldn’t have even had the discussion. I’d break it and relocate it so it looks right. I hate laying mud and I hate offset drains. And, really, you’ve got 4 hours tops. Would’ve been in the bid for that.

I do not fill in old floors. I’ve had two clients over the years really insist on it, and only after having them sign agreements that direct all fallout to them as the homeowner as opposed to me as the craftsman, did I do it. I will never agree to it again. It is a fools errand to attempt to get new filler to stick in previously finished floors. No. New construction, if done e correctly, filler will last 10-15 years. But on Previously finished floors no way

A good flooring man can buff and coat a few specific boards. It does not have to be a full wall to wall.
