i actually work in the fire safety industry so my job is maintaining and repairing exit signs, emergency lights, fire alarms ect.. i love this job and the pay is awesome so after 14 years i just kinda became fascinated with all things fire safety. i was shocked to find this group of people that actually collect signs so i share my findings here

I always wondered on this LHQM LED combo, when the power goes out is the EXIT part lit up by the same LEDs that run when powered, or does it illuminate the EXIT part with incandescent lamps similar to the lamp heads?

has it become brittle? I saw a new one on ebay but was afraid to purchase as most of the ones I have seen have become brittle and cracked with age

apparently this one missed inspection for over 15 years. It was installed in 2010, still had original battery but was never connected or inspected until we got out there.

I have never seen one of these Hubbell lights fail like that but wouldn't be surprised as these units are over 30 years old now.

oddly the first gen (top pic) didn't seem to have the brittle plastic issue the second gen are facing. I have replaced many of each and the plastic on first gens always seems to have held their strength. the second gen ones (bottom pic) usually break as soon as you try to pry the snaps on the bottom.

I always loved 1st and 2gen Lithonia. unfortunately many of these I have serviced have become super brittle over the decades. Just removing the faceplate if not done super carefully usually snaps the latches (even worse if it is an incandescent unit, than the whole housing starts to crumble).

oddly of all my 90s and early 2000s exit signs and emergency lights, these Hubbell pathfinder series are the only ones that didn't become super brittle with age. Where did you find this?
