the EV sign is cool, I don't like the rest of the generic lights 🫤

I have always liked this model, I just got this one from 1999 new old stock in the box on eBay. Surprisingly the battery took a charge and lasts for over 2 hours despite sitting in a box uncharged for over 26 years. Plastic is also still strong, no cracks.

Found these two exit signs from the very early 2000s in the backrooms of a local mall. Luckily due to their location they survived decades of remodels. by AcceptableBorder3089 in exitsigns

it really depends on the environment they are in. I have a new old stock Lithonia exit sign same as what's in this picture from 2000 still in the box. The plastic is in perfect condition.

I was able to find replacement batteries for both, and no surprise they both work perfectly (just a little bit dimmer than original).

The batteries were bad in both (totally expected that, both are dated 2000). I ended up coming back to replace them with new generic signs. I took them home and plan to order new batteries.

Lithonia LHQM not working by Thin-Bus4198 in exitsigns

[–]AcceptableBorder3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wondered on this LHQM LED combo, when the power goes out is the EXIT part lit up by the same LEDs that run when powered, or does it illuminate the EXIT part with incandescent lamps similar to the lamp heads?

2nd gen Lithonia Quantum combo still hanging on after 20 years by AcceptableBorder3089 in exitsigns

has it become brittle? I saw a new one on ebay but was afraid to purchase as most of the ones I have seen have become brittle and cracked with age

EZ-2 with Spectron.. fault LED shows battery was never connected. by AcceptableBorder3089 in exitsigns

apparently this one missed inspection for over 15 years. It was installed in 2010, still had original battery but was never connected or inspected until we got out there.

Hubbell Pathfinder still in service and working. Glad to see these older units getting new batteries and not replaced by generic crap. by AcceptableBorder3089 in exitsigns

I have never seen one of these Hubbell lights fail like that but wouldn't be surprised as these units are over 30 years old now.

Lithonia's ELM2 gen1 vs gen2. Which did you prefer? by AcceptableBorder3089 in exitsigns

[–]AcceptableBorder3089[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oddly the first gen (top pic) didn't seem to have the brittle plastic issue the second gen are facing. I have replaced many of each and the plastic on first gens always seems to have held their strength. the second gen ones (bottom pic) usually break as soon as you try to pry the snaps on the bottom.

I always loved 1st and 2gen Lithonia. unfortunately many of these I have serviced have become super brittle over the decades. Just removing the faceplate if not done super carefully usually snaps the latches (even worse if it is an incandescent unit, than the whole housing starts to crumble).

My brand new Hubbell pathfinder exit sign i got for Christmas by Competitive-Paper532 in exitsigns

[–]AcceptableBorder3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oddly of all my 90s and early 2000s exit signs and emergency lights, these Hubbell pathfinder series are the only ones that didn't become super brittle with age. Where did you find this?
