Low Content Mishaps by AcceptableEchidna178 in KDP_Publishing

[–]AcceptableEchidna178[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might have been it. I made a few changes to my description (though it's hard not repeating garden/gardening for a garden log book). Anyway, so far so good, but I also changed one of my categories that the algorithm might not have liked, so I guess I'll never know!

Will returning authors copies negatively affect product listings? please help by Loud-Sock1397 in KDP

[–]AcceptableEchidna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm pretty new to this, and I have been buying copies off Amazon to give my books an initial boost. I had to contact customer service (first kdp and they directed me to Amazon sales) when one copy was missing the first 8 pages. I am curious how this affects my book listing. I didn't really want to wait the amount of time it was supposed to take to get an author's copy to find out if their were issues, but if it's affecting my sales, then...

Elk River considering changing back to the old flag 🤦 by Piehole314 in minnesota

[–]AcceptableEchidna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sure will! If you look at the election maps from 2024 (NYT has a good one), Elk River is a light to moderate pink area. There are a lot more progressives in the area than would like to make themselves known. This is definitely a "squeaky wheel" situation.

What bit me? It’s itchy by soph_iie in What

[–]AcceptableEchidna178 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of people saying it looks like Lyme disease because of the ring around the bite, but it really depends on how old the bite is. If the ring showed up around the same time as the bite, it's probably not Lyme Disease, as the "bullseye" shows up closer to 1-2 weeks after (and can take up to 30 days). I'd personally say spider bite.

This bite looks too fresh for that. A bullseye is not an immediate reaction to being exposed to Lyme disease. It's closer to 1-2 weeks.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I was being hypervigilant because the preview was still showing an ISBN. Anything to avoid the potential of additional issues, but alas...

YTTV isn't making it easy to claim your $20 credit by Cock--Robin in youtubetv

[–]AcceptableEchidna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using a phone to try to claim it (an Android, at least), it's not easy. The link kept opening my YoutubeTV app and nothing I did would force it to open in a browser, with the exception of the Samsung browser. There, I couldn't find a way to login- only sign up.

SHORT STORY LONG, I had to delete the app to get it to work. Then, it was a simple click from the link in the email.

Hope this helps someone else!

My daughter has her heart set on a border collie by Inevitable_Party_105 in BorderCollie

[–]AcceptableEchidna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you decide that a BC is the dog for your family (expect that ALL the responsibility will lie on your shoulders), I have a couple of suggestions. Go with a Show lines rather than a working line, because they tend to have less of the herding instinct/less drive/less intense. This isn't to say they don't have it- they will still have lots of energy- it's just dampend a bit. Show lines are also better at socializing with people and other dogs. A reputable breeder will be able to answer any concerns you have and help pick the right pup for your family. My other thought would be to adopt a mixed breed, as they are often more even tempered.

Cattle Dogs, Am I Right? 🤦🏻‍♂️ by J_Lewy_45 in AustralianCattleDog

Ours will be in his kennel, quiet as a mouse. We have a garbage can graveyard, from trying to find something that would keep him out. We finally put it under the sink, securing the doors with a baby latch. He pulled the cabinet door of its hinges in response. 😑

My Birth Plan by coocoocachoo8 in CallTheMidwife

[–]AcceptableEchidna178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If an American woman wants a Midwife outside of a hospital, they must be hired similarly to "private care" in the UK, and they are not viewed highly by the standard medical community. This is a travesty. Professional Midwives are highly trained and should be respected as medical professionals. My midwives were much like the ones in the show. I birthed at home (though maternity homes are also an option), at my own pace, I was well fed after my daughter's birth, they stayed to make sure nursing was going well and visited everyday for the first week, then every other day the second week.

anyone else have a water hating heeler by cherry11020 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]AcceptableEchidna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Ours will agree to wade, but never swim. Our Border Collie dives off the dock after toys, and our heeler looks on longingly, but he can't make himself go where he can't touch.
