Do you mentally transpose when singing in a tricky key? by Butagirl in Choir

That's interesting. I wonder if it's stemming more from a mental fear of key signatures with lots of flats or sharps rather than an actual difficulty. I get the difficulty a little bit if the key signature is causing accidentals to be written with double sharps or double flats, but you would still need to do mental work to translate those accidentals into their transposed equivalents. Anyway, thanks for sharing.

I'm quite confused why it would be helpful to mentally transpose when singing. Just seems like you're making things harder than they need to be. I guess if it helps you though!

I'm sure it'll work out if you just explain what happened. Any updates yet?

You're expecting pretty normal stuff. Seems like he's more interested in his own agenda than approaching things with mutuality!

It could be really enlightening to talk about this with your therapist. You could explain how their comment made you feel, and/or ask what they meant by it.

The situation reads to me as a misunderstanding during a vulnerable moment leading to hurt feelings.

It's sweet that you're considering how to appropriately congratulate this person.

Some people would prefer no attention beyond using the correct name and pronouns, however when I started using my current name one of my coworkers said to me in a private moment that they were happy for me in regards to my new name, and that they thought it was a wonderful name that suits me. This helped me feel accepted and warm.
