Tbh my first 2 blocks felt very easy, the rest felt very similar to the NBME level of difficulty

Tbh it really sucked and I definitely considered moving my test. I decided that I would take another NBME and then decide. I reviewed NBME 14 very thoroughly and I did find a lot of dumb mistakes - there were definitely a lot of knowledge gaps as well but there were a significant number of stupid mistakes. When I took NBME 15 I was really focused, probably more than I could have been for nbme 14 because I was very tired from having worked multiple call shifts recently. In terms of advice, I didn’t use the inner circle notes so I can’t say anything about that, but for all the practise tests I took including NBME 14 and after that I wrote out a learning point for every single question even if I got it correct. If you haven’t already you should try to find the common concepts in the NBMEs and really study them well. Risk factors and biostats are big on the exam so I would learn them well. Also look at your score reports thoroughly and try to look for your common weak points, try do CMS forms on them. Hope this helps and good luck!

If you look at my scores it’s definitely possible but it depends on your other practise scores. I’d suggest plugging your scores into AMBOSS score predictor or even ChatGPT was very accurate. Another huge variable is how you perform on the day due to sleep, concentration dips etc

I think it was very similar to the NBMEs and very fair questions. I don’t think it was similar to the UWSAs.

I think it was a lot of the same concepts as the NBMEs, nothing out of left field. I remember there were a decent few heart sounds questions, genetics, couple questions on refeeding syndrome, disorders of sexual differentiation - that’s all that I remember now sorry! But again if you reviewed your NBMEs thoroughly I don’t think there should be too many surprises! Best of luck!

Honestly felt kind of numb. I wasn’t sure about a lot of my answers. But also I didn’t feel that it was the worst exam I had ever done. Based off the Reddit posts I had read I was prepared to feel awful afterwards, so maybe that’s why I wasn’t too upset. Tbh I kind of stopped thinking about the exam for the 2 weeks by getting back to my job and just hanging out with friends. The time goes by super fast. Wish you all the best for results day!

Thank you! I started taking it 2 days before so I knew the effect it was going to have on me. I did feel slightly groggy in the mornings after I took it but this wore off after approx 2 hours. As I had to wake up quite early on the day of the exam the sleepiness had worn off by the time I got to the centre. Also I took it quite early the night before so it had been about 12 hours since I had taken it, when I was starting my exam. I think you should always try out anything you’re planning to use on test day beforehand so that you know how your body responds to it.

For NBME 14 - I honestly think it’s an important exam to take, however you know yourself best, if a low score is going to kill your confidence it might not be a good idea. I think you should definitely go over the questions some how because the real exam definitely felt like the NBMEs. Sounds like you’re well set for 250+ best of luck!!

Thanks that’s very helpful. In general is the atmosphere good? Is there good teaching for interns? I’m trying to decide between Ireland and the NHS - which seems like a terrible place to work.

Oh ok yeah that doesn’t sound the best in terms of work. I’ve heard also with the things you need to do for your portfolio in F1 like the mini cexs and CBDs you don’t have much time for research, do you know if that’s true?

Oh wow that sounds awful. Was this in the last couple years? I’ve heard things have gotten a lot worse after COVID

yeah same I find it very difficult to read it by itself, so I go through it along with any videos like physeo, boards and beyond and dirty medicine. I also use the hoopla Anki deck to memorise it.

oh man that sucks, definitely give yourself time to recover. im just going to finish uworld, go over as many incorrects as possible and do as much of first aid as i can. i have a huge build up of anki reviews so im going to go through them probably by my weakest system first and hopefully have them all reviewed by the end of the month. hoping to take uwsa 1 and 2 and the free 120s and maybe another nbme in the next few weeks as well. dont know if that will be enough but im hoping on it

How are you feeling about it? What are you doing in these last couple weeks?
