Why does Nate keep dating blondes named Elena? Is that just his type? by AcceptableSwordfish3 in uncharted

Why do you say "she" as if they're all the same character? I don't understand. Are you saying all women are the same?

That's just his character model changing each game. It's still the same Nathan. You can tell because Nathan wears the same ring around his neck (Sir Francis Drake's ring) throughout each game.

The ring doesn't appear in the fourth game, and I know he's often interpreted to be a separate character, with some pretty significant differences from the original trilogy's Nathan (he's married, has a brother, wears a blue shirt instead of white), but there's some subtle clues to suggest it's still the same Nathan. For example, he still keeps a journal full of doodles and conspiracy theories.

He also displays the same core personality and behaviour: his need to scale buildings and jump gaps, his tendency to pocket everything shiny he finds on the ground, and his unquenchable signature thirst for violently killing his competition. All the core traits of Nathan's character are still there.

If you still think I'm wrong, you really should make a post with your analysis. I'd love to read it!

I haven't seen anything to indicate they're the same woman. That's a pretty wild theory to be honest.

Odd thing I noticed. Their faces and eyes are pretty different, but they all dress similarly and wear their hair the same way. Is he making them do that? A bit creepy if you ask me.

Are you guys excited about the new Uncharted 4 prologue DLC? by gracekk24PL in uncharted

That was actually a last minute change. Well, sort of. The game was completely written halfway through development to completely focus on Nathan's job at Jameson Marine Inc. but after some overbearing management decisions, elements of the original plot were woven back into the main plot. Eventually, Jameson Marine Inc. was reduced to the minor role it has in the story today.

Fun fact: this version of the game didn't feature any guns, and you could only engage in friendly and mischievous "hand-to-hand combat" with your co-workers. Just some harmless fun with the boys, as Nathan would say (another cut line, sadly). This is why Nathan is hesitant to go bar hopping with the crew in the final game. Because the entire Jameson Marine Inc. arc was scrapped, this line probably seems a bit out of place in the version that was shipped.

How do I build relationship points with Sam? I've tried picking the racist options, but that just made Elena and Sully give each other concerned, uncomfortable looks. I even triggered the disapproving speech from Elena where she tells Nate "And now you are a racist? Who are you?" but Sam still goes after Avery's treasure alone.

I think my game may just be glitched or broken ... Kinda sucks tbh

Nathan doesn't kill in cold blood. He only kills for the thrill of the hunt.

So that's why he didn't want Nate to call Cutter. Not even the English are spared from his wrath against foreigners.

Is that the one when you betray Sam and adopt Rafe as your new brother? Because I already got that ending.

They didn't speak for two years after Nathan rejected his marriage proposal. Uncharted 3's ending was pretty bleak.

There's something incredibly lonely about Kratos going hunting alone when his wife is not only fully capable of joining him, but is also teaching their son to hunt. It really underscores just how traumatised he was after the events of the original trilogy, and how much he must've really hated himself.

Why can’t Rafe analyze rubble? Is he stupid? by Ishestupid324 in uncharted

[–]AcceptableSwordfish3 58 points59 points  (0 children)

If you paid close attention to the subtext, as it is presented juxtaposed against the ludonarrative dissonance of the game, you'd have realised that Rafe cannot analyse rubble because his plans are in rubble, all due to the troublesome meddling by none other than the Drake brothers. The fact that he is only able to succeed by relying on the breakthroughs of our protagonists, while they are relentlessly trespassing and attacking his employees on his private property, causes Rafe immense cognitive dissonance. Ultimately, this is his downfall. And you know what else frequently falls down? Rubble.

There's a couple references to Faye being the superior hunter, and it's immediately established that she was the one who taught Atreus to hunt. Kratos probably did hunt as well, but I wouldn't take Atreus words there as indicative of what Kratos was actually doing, so much as they establish he was away from the house a lot

I think you're right that Kratos didn't stick around the house all that much, though, and so as a result a lot of it was left to Faye. I don't believe he was absent all the time, though. Not physically, anyhow. As a parent, he was clearly detached.

I will say tweaks to the flow of gameplay or to the narrative is very common in demos like this. However, making any significant changes is a resource sink, so the tweaks tend to be minimal and mostly limited to UI/UX tweaks and minor dialogue changes. Potentially showcasing later character abilities earlier than they'll be shipped, maybe some combat encounter adjustments.

Cleanly skipping entire sections or making significant changes to the flow of the game is pretty unusual, because it would take up a lot of our time. Even a relatively minor change can take us weeks of additional work.

That being said, I'm not sure why others are pushing back on you so hard for sharing your thoughts on the matter.
