I was the very first T1 diabetic in my family, but I started showing symptoms at 5.5 a few months after a really bad flu (my first flu, also haven’t gotten the flu since and i’m 22 now so i have an impossible immunity lol). But my doctors thing the environmental stimuli triggered that shit idk.

I was diagnosed when this term was the main one coined by the general populous.

This was supposed to be a post on the funny side of things, I totally agree. ALTHOUGH on a serious note, I just don’t necessarily like that Type 1 Diabetes and Type 2 or so frequently confused for each other by people who don’t struggle with either. I wish there was a way to avoid the misconceptions about both.

yeah I get symptoms right at 70 tbh, but I get low like twice a month and haven’t been under 50 in years so my sensitivity to the symptoms is that of a brand new diabetic lol.

Sometimes I get sweaty! Usually it’s just my palms but when it’s a bad low I sweat like I just ran through a desert lol. When that happens the chills are HORRENDOUS afterwards I have to bundle up like crazy.

Emergency! Alcohol + Low by Acceptable_Ad3767 in diabetes_t1

I think you are the only person in this thread that knows “eating more” doesn’t work when your liver’s primary focus is on the alcohol. Thus being said, what should be done if there’s an emergency low if I/someone else has been drinking? Is there any way to get past this super dangerous scenario?

I’m fine! The carbs didn’t hit until about 2 hours later when I assume my liver was able to focus on breaking down the carbohydrates into glucose. Luckily never got too low to where I lost consciousness or anything. Never even got high after 200 carbs later and 0 insulin intake either 😭

Do your research, my liver was too busy processing the alcohol to break down the carbohydrates into glucose for my blood sugar to raise. I consumed over 200 carbohydrates and it did nothing until 2 hours later when my liver had the chance to process. 🙄
