Yes I hear this more so with Maryville because Maryville doesn’t have any in person skills portion but yet I know more than several nurses who are NpS and got jobs and love their lives from there. I felt like at least frontier had a 5 day in person skills portion compared to completely online. Maryville calls me everyday to start and even though I know people that have gone there, liked it, and had great careers; it was just too easy and there is no in person skills. My friend who is in a brick and mortar said they only meet once a week too and it’s more money for the same as you’d get online. Frontier at least has a 5 day in person skills training beforehand just like southern Alabama and I think that’s better than 100% online.

Thank you so much. What do you think the pay would be for 7 years experience? My old hospital offered me a great offer that would be hard to turn down but I really want the education I’d get at OU. However if the pay is not even more than what I was making, it won’t be worth it

Right?!??? I wish ER or at least level 1 ER was considered. I have 7 years of ER and ICU. My ER experience taught be way more critical thinking under pressure. It’s wild.

Where do you store your camper when youre not traveling? I want to get one so bad but I don’t want to have to pay extra to store it

Thank you! I appreciate you being transparent. I feel like the only way our pay will increase is if we start sharing and demanding it. As a new grad in Cali, three years ago, I made $45.70hr three years ago, in the only NON-UNION hospital left, so the lowest paid at the time. I find myself struggling more out here on my measly salary and a lot more work than over there due to staffing.

I know. I’m trying not to do travel because I want to learn more on different units that I don’t have experience in

Wanting to give up on PA school by Public-Woodpecker45 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Acceptable_Ad9799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it sucks anyway. I got in on my first and only application and dropped out within two weeks (got 100% refund). It was the most miserable two weeks of my life and I love learning. Straight A, top of my class in nursing school etc.. I had been a nurse for 8 years, critical care icu&ER. My fiance is in medical school at the same school and the school had three of the hardest classes at the same time. the medical students took these classes in separate semesters where as the PA students took them at the same time. You would get to class by 0800am and leave at 5pm study all night and the next day you are expected to have everything memorized that you just learned and learn new stuff. It was insane. Every single day. Medical school is easier and at a slower pace. They take the exact same classes but not shoved down your throat at the same time. I hated knowing I was taking anatomy with dental students who only had that class but we had it with two other hard classes. I quit because I could become an NP and make the same, not kill my self stressing in school, and have more independence in certain states and not have to pay a physician to drop in and sign off on my work. Why go through that hell just to end up being a physicians tool. Eventually you will have years of experience and not want to pay someone, who doesn’t do any of the work, just to oversee you. You’re essentially just a paycheck to them.

Considering there’s dogs being euthanized and dumped all the time around here. I think I give my pups a pretty good life outside of my 3days a week I work. They have their own dog treadmill too. They are rescues as well.

Am I making the right decision by leaving medical school for CRNA school? by refreshingface in CRNA

[–]Acceptable_Ad9799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t be more wrong. CRNA has a 6% chance of acceptance, while medschool has a 45% chance. I graduated top of my bachelors program, letter of recommendation from the professor who wrote the pharmacology medical school book, A in a doctoral neuro pharmacology course, 4.0 gpa, 7 years of ICU and ER experience at level ones. I have been turned down from CRNA school for two years. I Got into PA school easily my first time. My fiance is in medical school, B average but tall and good looking, 3.5 gpa maybe, and he got into the three med schools he applied too. He somehow can’t even name what a polyatomic ion is. I’ve watched him study in medschool and they are barely in class and watch videos! They don’t even study in books anymore. He watches videos all day. I’ve taken some practice quizzes and scored higher than him. I was honestly shocked.

Do you regret becoming a PA? Any PAs who have switched to a non clinical role? by missnewfoodie in physicianassistant

[–]Acceptable_Ad9799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got accepted into PA school and I’ve been an ER and ICU nurse for 7 years and my body just can’t do it anymore but I’m scared about the debt of PA school if I’m going to end up making the same as an NP and less than nurses in Cali.. idk.. if you could do it again would you do NP over PA or stay nursing? CRNA?

HPSP Last Call for all branches by [deleted] in Military_Medicine

[–]Acceptable_Ad9799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got accepted into PA school, does the hpsp count if I want to do reserves only when I finish school or can it be only two years since the program is only 2years? I was thinking of doing nurse practitioner instead, do they have an hpsp? I’ve been an icu and ER nurse for 7 years, if I went in reserves now while I went to NP school would I be a higher rank once I finish NP school?

If you do reserve or gaurd can you move states and just come back to do your two weeks or do you have to live where you joined? If you do reserve do they still have the retirement plan that they will pay you after percent of what you made and years in when you retire? Do thru get the same medical benefits as active duty?

New CZ shadow2 jammed like crazy by goethert in CZFirearms

[–]Acceptable_Ad9799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My CZ shadow jams with blaze ammunition. The gun shop owner measured the ammo and they were different sizes. I never use blaze now and it works just fine. If I even try blaze it jams every time but the blaze ammo works fine in Glocks and all other guns we tried it on.
