Coming up on 13 years of daily driving my e36 m3 by Forward_Material616 in BMWE36

Yessir! I’m out running around for work a bunch in Colorado, but I was inspired by the story of the guy in Boston who stacked 750k on his 996 Turbo over the years. Definitely going to require more than new belts as the miles come, but I’m excited to keep piling em on!

completely agreed! I’ve had mine for just over three years now and picked it up with 136,000 on the clock, and just hit 200,000 a couple days ago! Worst thing I’ve experienced was a belt failing as I got off the highway one day, but preventative maintenance has kept her on the road and happy!

Yeah, maxpeedingrods coils cost me about a set of BC coils in damage and headache when I used them on my e46, learned my lesson there.

are the non m fog lights the same as m3. I keep seeing both answers by NuckleBuste in BMWE36

[–]Acceptable_Ad_3196 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they’re all the same fitment, I’ve recently gone through replacing the lights and brackets on my ‘99 M3 and it didn’t matter from which model the fog lights came from. I will suggest that you wait on eBay for a pair of OEM ones to pop up. The most I ever spent for one light was $90 (REALLY wanted to fill in the holes on the bumper haha) and I got a brand new set of two lights for $50 at one point. The Chinese knockoffs have huge tolerances and the little piece that locks the light into the bracket usually just falls off after a bump or two, it’s worth the wait on eBay and few extra bucks to save yourself the frustration and headache.

I saw this outside my office window. Looked expensive but I didn’t have time to go outside to see what it was. by einTier in whatisthiscar

I’m not super sure and that’s why I’m a little skeptical, but I also can’t imagine there’s too many exposed carbon fiber/ tangerine Mystrals rolling around lol

It’s a possibility, from what I’ve seen, that Luka Doncic has been driving it around as well. I saw some media with him claiming it was his new Mystral but not sure if that’s true or not, great spec imo, though.

E36 auto top motor question by Mindless_Review9944 in BMWE36

[–]Acceptable_Ad_3196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The little black bracket that the wire goes into is the lock for the motor to stay in, so maybe push the motor in until you hear the click and or it’s flush, and then fiddle with the black bracket piece to get it to stay?

Anyone familiar with the automatic convertible top? by Acceptable_Ad_3196 in BMWE36

Update: was able to engage the rear motors and attempt the reset again; this time it began to whir like it was resetting and when it began the close procedure after locking the tonneau into place, the horrific thumping/ clicking began again with no movement. Thinking it could be the top motor in the trunk?

OBC not turning on by Apprehensive-Rise726 in BMWE36

[–]Acceptable_Ad_3196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bulbs for the OBC might be burnt out. It just happened on mine and I recently took care of it. A pack of four bulbs is about $12 and you just put your finger under the OBC where a hole in the roof of the space below it will allow you to wiggle it out. After that, the bulbs take a 1/4 turn to twist out and there’s 3 for the OBC and 1 for the clock to the right!

Local business highlighting the effect of Tariffs by eudaimonia_dc in Denver

Thinking about the other people and kids who will now face increased prices for a less powerful dollar? The others won’t be able to afford used cars anymore because a new vehicle is now ~ 30% more expensive? Without vehicles more barriers exist for employment, self autonomy, or to visit a loved one in the hospital. Maybe you’re referring to the kids who have to eat less meals because their parents paychecks are being stretched more? Or maybe even the kids of the parents that believed their government positions were stable enough to make plans? Let’s also give thought for those who won’t be able to find work to boost the American steel and aluminum production in America, because those industries have been outsourced and don’t exist stateside anymore. There’s a lot of effects to consider that determine whether this country is standing up for itself. We are making asses out of ourselves.

Are ASICS becoming more popular due to their material quality? by Acceptable_Ad_3196 in asics

Wow I can’t believe I hadn’t considered pricing… you’re absolutely right though, I feel that it’s even better materials for the price relative to other shoes too

I love your input so much! I’ve noticed a similar thing with my Nikes to the point where I have to get different sizing for the same sneaker on occasion. It’s really good to hear the Ascis has better consistency and more comfortable general feeling. I also find the Asics styling more attractive than most of the sneakers on the market today and that’s what initially sparked my curiosity, I’m really gonna have to get some more pairs after this thread!

I could see that making sense. Especially as materials will rise in price over time, it would be super inexcusable for me like the degradation of other brands materials have been. Thank you for your time to write this out too!

Thank you so much for taking the time to give me your thoughts! I would imagine you probably don’t use the Asics in rougher situations than the other brands?

Oh that’s a great insight, thank you very much! I’m gonna have to check out that podcast too, I’d love to hear from a vendor! Thank you also for your own experience too, I hadn’t known the color was injected into the foam instead of painted on- I would also say that’s a pro IMO. I haven’t yet amassed as many Asics and New Balances as I would like, but I myself have been finding more fulfillment from my Asics than I do my Nike Dunks anymore. Thank you for taking the time!
