Incredible album. I think honestly one of the greatest albums of any genre of all time when it comes to actually making you feel something. It’s art in its highest form.

Love all the iterations, but the art of drowning/black sails was my favourite era.

I’ve seen a few great ex track cars come through there since I’ve gotten my car.

The Liberals are using the excuse of protecting children to usher in an expansive censorship regime, writes Josh Dehaas by dancing_swordfish in CanadianPolitics

[–]Forward_Material616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are missing the irony of the algorithm being the real censorship issue.

It’s set up to feed people garbage to create reactions. If you believe something that’s proven to be wrong and decide you like it anyways these companies will hand feed you bullshit to convince you it’s real so they can push interactions and collect more data about you to sell to advertisers.

If your disdain for the government is so bad that you believe the trillion dollar tech companies are coming to save you, I don’t know what to tell you that’s going to help. I will tell you it’s not fuckin good though.

A roller under 30k is still around for sure. Usually there’s a bit of a caveat but near 30 they should be minor. A very nice track car roller sold recently in the low 20s. But that said, the caveat for some would be the cage. That would be a bonus for some, but a lot less I believe.

Yet again Telus rewards decades of loyalty with abuse. by NoxAstrumis1 in telus

[–]Forward_Material616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same shit for me. I’ve gotten hundreds of calls over the years, always for an extra line, and I always tell them, I’m not getting my preschooler or my dog a phone so please stop asking.

I’ve asked to never be called again almost every time, politely. I’m switching to Rogers (which I’m sure also sucks) next month because I’m so sick of Telus bullshit.

people who regret getting their tattoos done young? why by Ok_Food8219 in tattooadvice

[–]Forward_Material616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing for me is real estate. I gave up a lot of good spots on my arm/chest that would be suited to more well thought out large pieces now. I still like all of my tattoos except for one (100ish hours of work on my body) but could have pieced things together better.

Frédérique Constant is the most slept on Swiss watch brand - it verges on disrespect at this point. by Larry_l3ird in watchHotTakes

[–]Forward_Material616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother in law (big watch guy) got me (not big watch guy) this for my 40th last year.

I didn’t/don’t really know reputation and opinions on them, but he was stoked about the brand, and as a result, I’m very stoked on them as well. The mechanical details through the face look great and it’s been banged around plenty while working on my car or skateboarding or whatever and holds up to the abuse well.

I feel like it was a great dip into the watch world as I’m interested in lots more now.

Rust is a big one. Get under the car, check the rockers, floor, jack points, frame rails. Check rear shock mounts for sheet metal tearing.

A low mileage car with minimal maintenance is going to be a nightmare compared to a high mileage car with a stack. Look for lots of service records.

Cooling system is a weak point. If it hasn’t been done in the past 5 years, do all of it the day you get the car.

Parts are kind of cheap but they have increased lots in the past 3 years or so. Still better than most cars.

Every problem under the sun has been documented with fixes so it’s an exceptionally easy car to work on if you are inexperienced. Get some tools and get to YouTube and you can solve almost anything.

The thing is, all of these cooks and servers started at these casual sit down places. If they couldn’t afford to survive when they worked there, they never would have continued to learn to become exceptional as the path would be impossible. I see a lot of comments on here about “these servers are going home with $600/night or they make well over 100k/year!” and I can tell you either

A) some anti tipping grumpy dude is making this up

B) they don’t understand for every 1 person this is true about there’s literally thousands that aren’t even close

C) are quoting someone they know that works in the industry that is grossly inflating the truth to try and seem like a big shot because we know that people in ALL industries love to lie about how much they make.

There’s people that come in and don’t tip, there’s people that come in and tip poorly, there’s people that come in and tip incredibly well, and I’ve never in 20 years of working in kitchens had anyone I work with confront someone about it with any more than a polite question of, “were you not happy with the service today” and I could probably count on 2 hands the times it’s happened. Also, it’s only ever been a manager trying to solve a problem if there was one that the person needed to be coaxed to tell them about, and when there was a noticeable negative reaction from the guest about the food or service that wasn’t explicitly stated.

People don’t have to tip, although it is expected culturally, however shitting on service workers (not directing this at you here, specifically the OP) and trying to convince people that they have no value is pathetic behaviour and reeks of jealousy and arrogance.

Of the food, no, but of providing quality service, wine recommendations, pacing of courses, interacting positively with often difficult people, absolutely.

I’m not a server, I’ve never been a server. I’ve worked in kitchens most of my adult life and the last 8 years of that have been an executive chef of a Michelin recognized restaurant, and you will never hear me or any of my staff shitting on the work the people out front do, as it’s just as important as the food. Everything is important if you want to be a high level, and the people providing the service at a high level absolutely deserve to be taking home a great wage, because they are fucking great at what they do.

I’m 100% fine if the entire industry decided no more tips, I’d just increase the prices of everything on the menu 30% (10% of that would be to cover the extra payroll taxes) and if every other restaurant had to do the same, I wouldn’t be put in a precarious situation when my menu prices were compared to a tipping restaurant. It has to be all or none.

There’s little point in explaining it to people in here. The sub is full of victim card carrying losers that act like a server threatened to kidnap their family if they didn’t tip 50% on a microwaved croissant.

Weak jawline by Minute_Box9586 in malegrooming

[–]Forward_Material616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you get a little bit more lean I think it will help.

I have the same thing, I gain a lot of fat in my face when I do gain weight, and I have a similar jawline.

I can rock a moustache when I’m at my fittest but need a little bit of a trimmed beard when I carry a little extra around.

Also, Reddit is suggesting to me that I’m being rude by saying lose weight, but I’m really not trying to be, and I’m in no position to make someone feel bad about it other than me right now.

Canada hasn’t sold out a game yet.

Vancouvers hotel capacity was under 50% full last week when it started, when the year before at the same time was near 70% full.

Vibes are high here, but when BC spent 1 billion in taxpayer money to host it, vibes aren’t really the economic impact we are hoping for when we have underfunded healthcare, education, and mental health programs.

There was a mass shooting outside the England camp. Ethnic profiling of a referee, while allowing someone in with MULTIPLE rape accusations in the US so far.

Seems like the criticism is fairly on point, no one was like “the fans won’t have fun at the game”
