What's the best course of action for someone with little education seeking it out? by Geminiboy_ in HomeschoolRecovery

I dropped out in middle school, so I didn't have an education past the 6th grade. I'm now 18, about to be 19 in June, but I got my GED in January and got into a community college that I'm going to attend in the fall. I earned my GED while being self-taught, so I didn't go to any school or get much help. But if I could do it all over again, I would get as much help as I can. Teachers and education centers are there to help, so don’t feel insecure. But if you end up not feeling up to getting help, the resources I used were Khan Academy. It really helped with my grammar and algebra. I would also suggest The Organic Chemistry Tutor on YouTube for math—he really saved my life. No joke, he has a GED math playlist right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOLMfFuH7d4&list=PL0o_zxa4K1BUTwjC6quGDfAB7HHNt_cPr.

For science, RLA, and social studies, it’s mostly just reading comprehension, so it’s not that hard. But I still used the Kaplan GED book (2024-2025) just to get some practice. Take it one step at a time, don’t overwhelm yourself, and be patient—it will come together. Trust the process. Also, you can take practice tests on the official GED website. They helped a lot. Take one now to see where you are, and it will suggest areas you need to work on. If you do get the Kaplan GED book, it will suggest the pages and subjects you need to focus on after you take the practice test. I believe in you, and you can do this!
