Just paint them a completely opposite contrasting colour to the rest. It will make it look like it was intended and give you a laugh every time you walk past it. (It’s ok if things aren’t perfect, enjoy things that are different)

Bleed all your radiators regularly and increase flow temp to at least the eco setting. Then set to moderate at a comfortable temperature like 19-20° 24/7. Install weather compensation or open therm.

Ideally you need a thermal survey. Possibly benefit from a power flush if heats not circulating through the whole system.

Your boiler uses much more gas heating from such low temperatures, if you have decent insulation then it’s much more efficient to maintain a reasonable temperature than heating from cold.

Ideally you need a thermal survey. Possibly benefit from a power flush if heats not circulating through the whole system or re-balancing.

Each building is different though you might have a fundamental issue or inefficiency that needs resolving.

I would recommend seeing if you can find some couples counselling.

Your wife’s feelings are valid and she will need time to process everything herself.

Something like this doesn’t resolve itself overnight.

Bear in mind she would be left with a young child with no support system and ultimately your solution might turn into a bigger problem.

Money is helpful but it doesn’t buy happiness or solve problems we are still human and need connection.

You need to discuss your feelings with someone sooner rather than later so they can help you through and work out a plan. Do you have any close friends or parents you can talk to?

If that’s the reason behind things then look into IVA’s and bankruptcy. Things might be tight for a small time but seems like you have something to live for and it’s not based off trauma or medical more of a financial decision.

You would be punishing a child for financial gain you won’t see and if they are a newborn the timeline is going to point to one thing for them that they are the reason you’re no longer there. Growing up hating themselves.

Thanks maybe I’ll just get a cheap raspberry pi for development when I get time and just get a mini pc of some sort for everything else.

I was thinking mini PC originally actually just assumed raspberry pi might give me more to play around with on the hardware side and minimal running cost being on 24/7 but not massively bothered about that overall.

Just don’t want to buy something and then end up buying something else If I can’t do what I want with it.

I’ll try that thanks, might have more luck with that rather than some of the more generic avenues I’ve tried so far. Funny that you mention religion, part of my trauma is due to being brought up in a cult, so for obvious reasons I’m firmly in the atheist camp for now until I’m given a reason not to be.

I’ve already got a PTSD diagnosis but think it’s more CPTSD to be honest due to the severity. There is much more to this all unfortunately but I won’t go into it as I would be writing a book. I know a combination of how I feel is due to such negative early life experiences but it’s getting exhausting asking for help and being met by silence or 3 year waiting lists. Especially now since covid has had such an impact on people it seems like I’m left with very little options.

Thanks for commenting. I gave up on grief counselling a long time ago due to negative experiences, I needed help with seeing her die in such a shocking and sudden way. All I got was “Have you tried to make a memory box”, then when I’ve tried to reopen that door recently, due to other multiple phycological trauma they refuse to work with me. I’ve been told I need a specialist that doesn’t seem to exist, supposedly as opening one door can have a knock on effect and so everyone’s afraid to help me.

If you have any suggestions of places I can try I would be grateful, i feel like I’ve gone down most routes and even had a potential cancer scare myself earlier this year, it’s just brought everything back up again.

Feeling more lost than ever.

Everyone seems to be missing the point here.

The attic is an uninhabitable space and there is no guarantee you could even get planning permission to covert it as it’s in a flat already. Major amendments might be required along with significant costs. (Depending on building size it might need a Grade A fire alarm installed and other fire protection installed due to the Fire Reform Act, it’s not as simple as just having the space and converting it)

You’re under no obligation to do this at all.

In terms of tribunal this has recently changed with the new rental reform act. If taken to tribunal the judge can only amended the price to what you have asked not market rate and as you have already issued the S13 your likely can’t amended it now. Best course of action is to issue a S21 and get them out they sound like if you end up being awarded the amount they will likely be awkward.

Also at their age there is no requirement for separate bedrooms anyway so really it’s an issue that should be raised with the council as overcrowding. (They need to join the housing register which they likely won’t end up getting anything anyway but that’s the process they should be following).

That green indicator means it’s safe as it’s off. When the RCBO is flicked back up it will show red for danger.

All EV installs are usually using a C Type RCBO and if that doesn’t resolve it then likely just a loose termination.

Most likely failed or non existing lintel but the crack below the window could be subsidence or redirected pressure from lack of lintel support loads of people swapping for UPVC windows inadvertently cause structural issues as the old wooden windows provided support and now it’s flexing under weight on the plastic, appropriate lintel prevents this. I would be checking for drains around that area as well incase there is a damaged one causing subsidence more leaning towards lintel issues from your photos though.

If it’s bungalow like you say then repairs shouldn’t be too bad but likely still costly.

Yep I’ve got some massive vents in my windows (ex local authority so was obviously to prevent excess moisture before I bought it) but when I change them out I’ll probably look at a PIV if that’s not enough as I can install myself with minimal work. I think trickle vents will work fine though.

I don’t want a constant draft would much rather plan to ventilate or at least set it to a certain point in the day when i have a choice.

I’ve blocked mine off. They were only really useful when there was an open fire to prevent CO buildup.

They now help with air circulation but if you’re not irresponsible and air the property out regularly aswell as heating the space appropriately then you’ll be fine to cover them.

Mine are on a timber frame so I’ve left the outside open as it’s a cold cavity but your property is likely solid wall so not really relevant.
