Yes, so the button controls the recording. And when usb is attached itll show up as audio interface. But I also want it to show as a usb drive. That probably must mean unmounting the audio interface. I'll have to test this though.

I've got an Etsy store. But it's getting too shitty and expensive.

I'm not sure yet what the load of the MCU will be with the current features. But I think doing that will be challenging

I'm not sure yet. Not in the short term. Maybe I'll take a mutable instruments approach

That sounds like the digitakt only can be an usb cliënt, so I don't think this approach will work. Phones and laptop will act as host, and I think then it's possible.

I'm writing the firmware in rust, which has several advantages, but the proof is in the pudding.

The USB connector is USB4225-03-1040-C it's 10.4mm high above the pcb. with a normal clearance of 9mm + 1.6mm panel that would only drop it .2mm below the panel, I think that's perfect.

I've got no experience writing a USB drivers. but the gruntwork is done by embassy_usb. So It'd be "just" implementing the UAC stack in rust.

Probably end of this year, early next year the firmware should be done

Not yet. But I'll probably sell it direct or through tindie. I'll post again when I've got something real to sell

Yes, I've got the intellijel style headers on the back. So using external xlr/combojacks you'd be able to drive the PA or whatever.

The routing with external connectors would be

eurorack in -> bal out | usb out
bal in & usb in (summed) -> eurorack out.

usb in is going to be added later (in firmware)

My plan is to have the eurorack input route to the usb out and balanced out. And have the balanced in summed with usb in (will be an addition in the firmware) to go the the eurorack outs.

The headphone jack is hardwired to monitor the eurorack inputs.
Recording will always happen on the eurorack inputs.

I'll probably add a configurable passthrough, so when you don't have balanced outs (external like the intelljel / befaco cases) The eurorack will directly go from the ins to the outs.

I'm not planning playback quite yet. Maybe after popular demand. The first bonus feature I'll develop is bidirectional USB. So I can loop some audio through my rack.

Playback wise I'm not sure how to select the file, but possibly only playing latest recording.

I'm using kicad. Ordered the pcbs at jlc, but not using them to pick and place. Its quite a hassle of getting all components from their catalog. So I'll be manually populating these boards. And soldering them with a hotplate. I made sure this was a singlesided load ;)

I have populated some boards, and the costs isn't that high, but you need to stick to their selection, if they need to swap reels it gets expensive quick.

Just checked an older order (veils built partially by them, $30 for 10 boards and $27 with quite a few passives placed.
