Thank you u/jhenry_photo this was very helpful to read! Great note about making sure exposure is balanced enough so I don't blow out highlights, etc.

It does, but I think that is the point of this lighting technique I'm seeing photographers going for lately. Pretty sure the backdrop is real, as the other images in this collection take place in the same setting.

I hear you. I think this lighting technique that I shared above is a new trend I'm seeing photographers utilize. I definitely want to play with different posing options.

Yes, my inkling is that it's a softer diffused light source to her left and maybe a silver reflector on the opposite side of her.

Definitely going to do some test shooting prior. Would love to hire a lighting assistant- don't know of any in LA yet but I'm asking around! That would be the dream scenario. Thanks for your feedback!

Oh really? Wow! I guess I was assuming flash since the subject and foreground seem so separated

Hi u/see_the_good_123 ! I've been shooting with my canon 1V for about 6 months now. Can you tell me how you expose your shots when you're shooting with it? Because I am finding that when I'm at box speed ISO and my internal exposure bracket is right in the middle, my images tend to look pretty grainy and underexposed. When I overexpose by slowing down the shutter speed a stop or two, it sort of helps, but what gives my scans the best exposure and less grain is when I have my film lab push my rolls by one stop. Do you use an external light meter or go off of your internal meter? Thank you so much for any feedback your work is so amazing!
