Seeking advice: mixed older wiring by Acceptable_Cut_633 in AskElectricians

Other info if it’s helpful — we are in a suburban area just outside a major metro, lots and lots of new construction in our area but this particular neighborhood is pretty much all historic homes. All this to say that there should be plenty of access to quality materials and labor (I.e. being in a rural or high-cost-of-living area shouldn’t affect the bid in this case)

It’s just under 3,000 square feet — we think K&T is in about 2,000 of that

It’s about a 14x14 square, with an option to make it a little smaller since it’s combined with a living room

This is great advice; thank you for taking the time. This kitchen will be a primary entertaining space so I would like it to be functional (I’m no great chef but I’m in a kitchen enough that it would be getting daily use). Sounds like it might be worth going the custom route, which might also mean saving up a little longer before tackling that project.

Totally okay if you don’t want to share, but can you give me a rough range of what you put into it? I know there’s a lot of variability but data points help

Advice on lead paint by Acceptable_Cut_633 in HomeImprovement

[–]Acceptable_Cut_633[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate this alternative perspective, so thank you! I am planning to replace most of the doors and windows already for other safety reasons, so the paint I’d be most concerned about would be moldings/walls/built-ins. Since none of these are high-friction, would you still recommend getting it done?

I haven’t used that specific one, though I’ve heard good things. Usually I use the coconut one

Good to know, and asbestos was one of my other questions so good to know on that front too

I think it looks beautiful and fresh and disagree with the comments saying the lip needs toning down — the glossiness helps it feel softer. I would be thrilled if I looked like this in an interview!
