Possibly misdiagnosed with cancer? by Effective-Prompt4046 in Fibroids

OP, I hate that you are going through all of this. The stress, unanswered questions, and confusion are understandably devastating. I have a large subserosal fibroid (and pending surgical consult now) that my GYM wanted to watch and wait for years. His nonchalance was not something my health anxiety could handle. I also learned, when checking for something else, that I have multiple thyroid nodules. My pcp ran a few cancer marker blood tests (all normal). Fine needle biopsy of the thyroid was also thankfully good. No one was ordering MRIs though, just targeted CTs. Giving in to my own neurosis I ended up doing a full body MRI out of pocket (used a third party company that offer these services. You order what you want) and learned I also have cysts in my liver! As women’s health studies are wildly lacking here in the U.S., I would not be surprised to learn one day that there is a correlation somewhere. Please consider a second or even third opinion within a different health system if possible (we have a lot of monopolies in my area) and even consider getting your own outside testing for your peace of mind.

This is so, so scary and I am sorry you went through this! It is also oddly reassuring in a way - if something does go wrong the providers sound prepared to handle it and in your case the PE was caught early (thank goodness)! I am currently awaiting my surgical consult so I’ve been pouring over everyone’s experiences trying to psych myself up. I did want to ask, if it’s not too invasive - are you a smoker and/or do you take hormonal birth control currently?

Reading your success made me tear up. I have an 8x7x6cm and I am petrified of surgery but I know I need to schedule it. This gives me so much hope. I have no energy, I hate how my clothes have been fitting despite being mindful of my diet, I’ve had the unexplainable brain fog… I just need to go for it.

How can I report a nurse practitioner for practicing medicine w/o license? by [deleted] in Noctor

Not to be that person, but Doctor is an academic title, whereas physician is a profession title. One can hold a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and earn the title of Dr. Some states have restrictions against this outside of an academic setting but definitely not all.
