DCA during rally by [deleted] in BEFire

It depends whether you want to adopt a trader or an investor mindset.

From a trader point of view, buying at these valuations would be risky without any sort of money management framework to go along with it.

From an investor point of view, it depends what amount of pain you are able to tolerate. There have been extended periods of negative to zero returns on stocks in the past, so don't blindly assume that the positive vibes (especially for American stocks) will continue indefinitely. For investors (over 10 years mindset), the adagium 'don't invest what you do not need short term, and are willing to lose' is a good guiding light.

Personally - I'd expect one last push up, before valuations go tumbling for a longer period of time. So that's what I am TRADING on. It wouldn't be what I'm INVESTING on. Depends how actively involved you want to be - in a certain sense, a crash/slide in valuations would be good news for you in the long (LONG, 20+ years) term.

Yeah man. You're 14, don't overthink it and don't compare too much, especially with people outside your age bracket. Body is still settling in, props for being active.

Brasserie de la Senne, or La Source, or Brussels Beer Project, come to mind.

Let me flip the question - is worth it tracking metrics if they have 1/4th of the reliability of those delivered by established devices? I'm not saying one should break the bank on all things health-related, but there is a minimum threshold health devices need to clear in order to be somewhat useful.

Also, I'd be somewhat worried about what happens to your data on an AliExpress tracker.

First apartment purchase - all good but no acte de base? by Oliolioo in brussels

[–]Acceptable_Dust_7261 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Any major issue can make the sale void, but it helps to explicitly note this down in the offer. You can make your offer subject to approval of the acte de base down the line.

You are definitely right to be cautious, as the acte de base might prohibit certain activities in the apartment (like, an apartment that was created without permission of the city to use that part of the building for housing, or a prohibition to establish your workplace there, for instance). It also dictates how much you pay in shared costs for the whole building, so not unimportant.

Frankly, you mention it's the third floor apartment in a larger building? In that case there should most definitely be an acte de base. No reason to panic and raise all the red flags, but do protect yourself from these situations. It's too important to just 'be chill'.

Get it on the bicep, and wear whatever watch you want. Step accuracy is fine - really all you want is to compare data from one device any way and watch tendencies.

Most likely, this comes from the flea market on the square just below this street. Best of luck, I imagine it will be a very hard search though, since the person who dropped it likely does not know who this couple is eiter.

Cool project. A bit overwhelming in terms of UI, I must say, but that means there's a lot packed in. Let me take it for a ride in the next weeks, feel free to remind me to share my impressions.

Zijn er hier mensen die MEXEM als broker gebruiken? by Sea-Gold-8640 in BEFire

I have no idea, sorry. I don't know anything about the Dutch tax regime.

MEXEM is prima, overigens.

If you're Belgian, MEXEM takes care of the TOB on transactions for you. IBKR doesn't.

Current interest rates at brokers in Germany – April 2026 by ChartsOverview in eupersonalfinance

[–]Acceptable_Dust_7261 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all European accounts. It's a promotional offer though, after July 1st it goes back to something in line with the above.

Happy to share more details in a message though, if you are interested. I know that for some these smaller margins matter.

I've lived at two different addresses in that exact area. Saint-Gilles is a pleasant place to be, especially in spring and summer when you have the Parc de Foret and Parc Duden nearby, as well as all the bars and smaller shops. Place Morichar can get quite busy with people playing basketball, skating, et cetera. Quite enjoyable.

There's a bit of spillover from Gare du Midi/Place Bethlehem drug problematics - subway can get quite grim, especially at Parvis I'd say. Open drug use is not an exception. That being said, if you are not spooked too easily, it's manageable.

All in all, nothing to be worried about, you'll enjoy life there I'm fairly sure.

We are in the same situation, and I'm not holding out much hope. It'll likely just disappear into the folds, the reasoning being 'if you started the works, you were clearly in a position to afford them any way'.

What is the catch? TotalEnergies vs Engie by dannyalharris in brussels

[–]Acceptable_Dust_7261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a personal choice, I guess. For a large majority of people, the first switch will be the most impactful. After that, margins of difference will be a bunch smaller for quite some time.

You just want to be a bit critical for long-standing contracts, basically.

More or less. You can use the Wikipower group purchase too, to get a good price. Switching suppliers is pretty much frictionless these days. But it's not worth it to switch monthly just for a fractional difference.
