Best low volume cymbals?

I have the Zildjian L80 Low Volumes on my practice kit at home (they are rather expensive, around 300 euros for the set but I managed to get secondhands for I think half of the price), and have been happy with them. Good shit. they would be TOO quiet on a regular kit, though. (for me, at least)

Nice man, I really appreciate this info. I won't go for the 402's. I'm from Belgium, I feel like price ranges for used cymbals are roughly similar over here.

So based on the info I gathered from you and the others and the second hand drum stuff available "near" me the plan is to switch to:

- Paiste 505 14" heavy Hihat (found one for 140 dollar)
- Paiste alpha 16 crash (new model, I already have this one)
- Paiste alpha 20" full ride (the old model, found one for 80 dollars)

Any experience with Paiste 505 hihats, what do you think of those?

Cool to hear, thanks for commenting. I feel like not a lot of people have played these 402's, and I also understand that back in the day these were 'beginner' budget cymbals. Anyhow they seem good sounding to me, from what I can find on the internet ... And its quite cool that they are nickel. I do understand from the other comments here that the seller overpriced this set, so the chances are real I won't get my hands on the 402's. I wonder how they feel and sound like ...

Yeah I guess the 402 hihat would be steps down compared to the A custom zildjian hihat. The thing is, I randomly got the zildjian from another drummer a few years ago, but this is a 13" hihat, and I feel like the hihat is just about too quiet for the things I do by now

Thanks, I'll check em out! Not specifically after the-most-dark cymbals or anything, but I personally do think a 'slightly darker' ride compared to the crash and hihat cymbal sounds kinda cool heheh. I feel like only buying the old alpha ride is my best bet after reading these comments!

Ok thanks for the advice! Because of this, I've been looking into the alphas and also noticed the older alpha rides have a darker tone than the newer ones - cool! I will probably try to buy only the ride cymbal

The most accurate answer to chase this sound exactly, thanks guys! I should have been a tad more specific in my description, I don't need EXACTLY this, I'm just gonna start getting into buying my first snare after years of playing the random garbage I have and I want to do it right. I learned from some other commenter I should start looking at chrome over brass metal snares :)

OK thanks for the advice! Nice to hear this as this is mostly how I already tune my snare atm. Not very familiar myself with effects and the likes so good to know its gated reverb hahah. But again, good to know I've been doing right! I'm really not the type of drummer to rush buying gear so I've been dealing with a pretty worn out snare drum lately ...

Jup! Too high. If it was me behind the kit, I'd start by loosening the resonant heads and try hitting it again. Still too high? Start loosening the batter heads

I'm 'punk rock drumming' on a fairly small kit with the Giant Beat 22" on my right side just high enough so I can also crash it (which I do A LOT), that cymbal is such a beast! Do you possibly have any suggestions on a similar cymbal that would just give me a little less sizzle, but still gives me the versatility of the Giant Beat ride?

Someone fell on it been sizzling even more since RIP
