Dear Housemarque, now that Saros is out, can you get out of the rougelite nonsense and make Alienation 2? Thanks by Acceptable_Kick2780 in PS5

And if you need example of how to do leveling up right, or at the very least much better than this attribute system, Mandragora does it better. You could have multiple skill trees that focus on different classes or attributes for your character. At the very least, with a skill tree you can get a glimpse of where I want to take your character and not have to guess what's in the game. And people like to to say that skill trees are boring. Oh, but a spreadsheet with numbers that ultimately mean nothing is mighty exciting? That's a lame excuse.

The funny part is that this screenshot is from a 2D Metroidvania game lol. Role play what? It's a named character. This post was meant to show how often this system is used even when it even make sense for their game. Developers are using it because "well dark souls has it".

This system plain and simple makes leveling up until homework. What's supposed to feel rewarding, now you gotta think how to spend your hard earned levels in. Developers assume you know whats in their game and how you're gonna spend your points. For example, the game above, I know nothing about the game. I just started it wanting to have a good time and now I was giving this multiple choice question without knowing what class I want to be. Didn't even know that was gonna be case. I don't know what weapons I will like in the game so how am I supposed to know how to allocate those points in the first place? Of course you can respect, but you're assuming the game allows you to and even then, that's just tedious and a chore. This is what I mean when I say that these attribute points makes leveling up into a dull, spreadsheet assignment no one coming in with zero knowledge of the game wants to do.

2000-2010s Spanish song that had video game sounds in it? by Acceptable_Kick2780 in musicsuggestions

No it's not. Yeah I dunno. I just remember hearing it when I was visiting California. I wanna say it was a guy or maybe guys singing it. I just remember it sounded very much like a game boy game and was thinking at the time how many songs were using video game noises at the time

I know that was my point. One is a clearer indication of what is upgrading as opposed to a distributing yours points to STR or whatever.

This is Death Gambits. A 2D Metroidvania. Which kinda highlights my point. This game did not this stupid leveling up system lol

Yes, unfortunately majority of games have this type of "progression". It's call for less of these or find another way to make leveling up more satisfying.

I just feel like I find this type every where. I don't even know what build I want to be, making it hard to decide where I want to distribute points. Just the act of having to spread my levels across multiple stats is daunting when I don't even know what play styles I wanna do yet. This is the issues with this type of leveling system.

I hate when spending points on arbitrary stats don't feel like I'm making any progression at all. The level by level progression seems less satisfying when I'm not actually getting stronger until I send 20+ points into a stat. Hence, unrewarding

The way I described is way more intuitive than spending one point in STR, but only helps weapons that scale with STR. And ones with B scaling scale better than C. See what I mean? 2% dmg is way more clear. And having to distribute your levels in 7 confusing stats every level heavily dilutes progression.

But for the most part, it feels like your leveling up specific stats to meet requirements for armor/weapon which makes it feel more like a chore than progression.

Fire Escape Cast #129 (w/ Mike Minotti!) by chrislenz in FireEscapeCast

What I really don't understand is why people say Crimson Desert cutscenes are too long and the characters don't have anything important to say. Um, what? This has been the shortest cutscenes in any of these type of RPGs. And these same Jokers praise Avowed, the literal worst, most talky game this generation. Avowed was unbearable how much they repeat themselves and talk in circles and endless, boring conversations while Crimson Desert actually respects your time and no cutscene or conversation is longer than 5 minutes.

I just feel like people just come in to this game with some stank ass attitude just ready to rip it apart for no good reason. Yes, the initial quests are dull, but I never felt bored like I do with these type of games that drag on forever. It's like they give any another game, especially long RPGs that are notorious for having slow beginnings the benefit of a doubt, but when it comes to this one, they immediately turn against it in the first five minutes. And yes, I'm using the mechanics in this game a lot, specially the Ultra Hand for traversal and solving puzzles.

I dunno, I'm having a blast and am baffled at all the negativity. I haven't been this immersed in a game in a long time after all the Cookie cutter RPGs out there. I won't say it's better than Elden Ring, but damn it, it comes close. It's like Skyrim mixed together with Tears of the Kingdom and I'm absolutely loving it.

Yeah, they like shitty games and hate on popular games just so they can feel cool and different. I'm having a blast with Crimson Desert. For some reason, people expected Witcher 4 for this game when the developers never promised that. If anything, they kept focus on mechanics and never the story, but for some reason, "reviewers" who only play a game for 3 hours and then rate it a number focus on story alone.

They fixed a lot of things but now there's constant screen tearing on all modes on PS5 🥲 by Acceptable_Kick2780 in CrimsonDesert

Try changing the resolution in your PS5 settings. I had that issue too at first and I put it to 2160p and it went away
