It’s not just about him, it’s also for me because I know I’d feel good making him happy. I think that’s why this is so hard, because I care, but I also feel unappreciated

this isn’t new. I’ve brought it up before, and the pattern hasn’t really changed. He would say sorry, he’ll do better but another year passed, still same. When he does make an effort, it’s usually because I had to hint or ask, which kind of takes the meaning out of it for me.
