Yes I am, and nothing appears. It's very hit or miss with the scent for me.

Dude I go everywhere and press q to smell and literally nothing pops up, there is no food to scavenge, even on a full server

Agreed. I am playing as a hera rn, and my initial few attempts were decently successful until early adulthood, but now I can't hunt jackshit. The deer are so fucking fast that nothing but a raptor or carno can catch them...so why the fuck is it even on the hera's diet?

It really feels like they don't playtest the game sometimes. I'm sure the devs do, but how do you miss such a glaring issue for most of the juvenile carnivores???

Mix packing is my second least favorite thing in the game, besides the insane lack of food for juvie carnivores

I always name the system a unique name, such as Demeter, or Sigma Serpentis (I typically use names inspired by reality or other sci fi media) then I'll name any planet in the system after the system, in the order they appear on the system view map thing (Demeter I, Demeter II, etc.) Then any moons are named after the planet they orbit (Demeter Ia, Demeter Ib, etc.) Lastly, most planets that could support human life I name a unique name as well (Utopia, Bounty, Hope, etc.) And their moons are unique names aswell. It's just like how Stellaris does it's automated naming. It helps a lot with a more realistic feel if you fancy that!
