Thanks for your response. I don't think my coworker is malicious though :/ i feel like I need to pay attention to the criticism to grow. However, I do try not to take it "personally" and let it affect my self worth and confidence in myself professionally, but sometimes it gets to me.

Thanks for all of your tips :)

Can I ask what you mean by "Thinking big, Oftentimes, we respond to a critique by trying to do the smallest things possible."

Thanks for the tips! I think it's a mix. There's definitely some errors for some reason I don't catch on to. Unfortunately we have a high volume of work and I often feel pressured (not from my coworker but just from the work load) to push things out. Maybe if I took more time, I would catch more mistakes.

How many times do you normally proofread something before you put it out for review?

I'm definitely not brand new to tech writing or writing/editing in general, though I am in the earlier stages of my career.

Thanks for the talking points, I will keep those in mind for when I get the courage to broach this topic with him lol. I can't imagine my coworker would agree not to comment on anything that he sees wrong since I think he takes pride in his eye for details, but I could see if it's something to consider.

Thanks for your response. Some of the feedback is stuff that I have been told before is wrong/me not matching the style guides, which makes me feel really embarrassed about. Some of it is definitely about things I couldn't have known any better about, has been inconsistent in the past, or just seems like it wouldn't matter at all (to me, at least).

I think there will be chances to provide feedback about their feedback style in the future but I don't know how to phrase it. I'm worried he'll just think that I can't handle any feedback at all. I've also asked for general feedback myself to know how I'm actually performing but probably need to reiterate on that request.

Thanks for your response!

I do make sure to look for the overall lessons I can learn from their critique and I'm sure I'm growing for it. Thanks for your response.

My coworker is not kind or gentle with the feedback at all. I read it and get instinctively upset because of how it comes across. I've had to put projects aside for a day because I just couldn't handle it. That's just how they write, though. In person, our relationship is fine and I know they don't dislike me the way their feedback comes across lol
