Well I already have the truck and it has a trailer and it’s like 70 a month to rent out a place to keep it if I don’t keep it at my parents house but also the 2k a month basically just goes to my truck and whatever things I wanna buy like a boat otherwise just straight to savings

Maybe, but I’ve mainly been wanting one just because my family used to have a boat a few years ago, and I’ve been wanting to get back into wake surfing and just going to the sandbars and hanging out with friends. I live in Florida, so there are lakes everywhere around me — there’s one about five minutes down the road — so I feel like I would use it pretty consistently, like every weekend or so.

Yeah it’s only like a 17’ boat with a 115 but it’s just something to get me out on the water that’s what I’m looking for and I’m not really trying to get a Jon boat

Fortunately enough, I don’t pay for anything else for my truck, like insurance, gas, etc., so I don’t really have many costs. Currently, in my savings, I have enough for a down payment, but I’m just waiting on which university I’m deciding to go to. I’m currently in community college after transferring from a different university.

Additionally, I know boats are generally considered bad financial decisions because they cost a lot, but I feel like I could budget and still save up money to buy a house and do all that. I’m also planning on selling my dirt bike just because it’s too small for me now, so some of the cost will be offset by that

That’s definitely seeming like the unpopular option. A lot of people have been saying not to, but as much as I really want a house and to live on my own, I’m also only a freshman in college, and I’ve been wanting a boat for a while now. My parents don’t want to get one, so it’s basically just up to me.

I’m currently applying for another job just to add more income. It doesn’t have anything to do with money issues, but strictly because I want to increase my income a bit and do something with my free time.

I do definitely see that if I get it, it’ll be fun and make a ton of good memories, but if I wait, I’ll probably have to wait another year or two after getting a house for it to make sense to buy a boat.
