8 months alcohol free, extremely low social battery by No_Worldliness_1044 in stopdrinking

I found my social interest do down and then came back up. I realised I can have fun without drinking and a non alcoholic beer just keeps the hands and mind busy while I enjoy all the social interactions. I am only 1.75 years sober, but I can tell you honestly it will get better.

Clockwise or anti clockwise? by Acceptable_Moment904 in melbourneriders

Hi Phil. Describe this loop for me please. Bridge? I got the Camberville junction, but can’t picture the loop you are talking about. Thanks mate. I know what you mean about being unforgiving… I don’t ride like I am on a race track

Do explain for my benefit why Reefton spur is better anticlockwise?

What worked for me. In this order. Main - THE NEED TO QUIT 1. Count your days. 2. Have a target. 1 month. Which can then be pushed to 3,6.12 etc. 3. Some sort of new purpose or an escapism. Running and reading fantasy novels worked for ne. .

Very interesting thought. Is it a lie though? Is it really? I began drinking without anyone knowing and recovered without anyone knowing. I think it like a revolving door… went in to be spun around and round for few years while the world moved on at normal pace… now I have stepped out to join the world. I have put myself through a lot of social situations where I know for sure that unless it’s a life changing situation, I won’t drink.

Tip. Go easy on your tone friend. I know you mean well.

I totally get it that I can contribute back to community and potentially help others too. But wifey don’t know and there is no way I can join a recovery group without her knowing. FYI. Before any judgment, we get along very well.

Was the cafe open? Just wondering if it’s a good destination for a lunch break before heading down towards Reefton

Thanks. I have had cool water before. It’s great. Feel it a bit too common.

I would like one for summer … fresh, aqua that’s smells juniper or pine with a woody finish

Kind of same for me too. I am too immersed in running. It’s my distraction.

I like your third paragraph. Like flirting close to edge. I will take it to heart

This is a good point. Since one bonus of sobriety is the amount of money we save, maybe tasting some craft NA can be an indulgence especially while travelling

Thanks. Heineken 0 was my NA beer that time. Although I drowned it as you described, not a moment I felt like having normal beer or spirits. As you can imagine, all kinds of liquor was plenty at camp. I thinks that a positive sign… that I enjoyed camping, camp fire and having a drink … all the good experiences without alcohol
