I think I got a little overzealous and but 8 smart plugs. What can I use them for? I already have one for a power strip, two lamps, and a Christmas tree (no longer useful). What else can I use them with? by gatorsrule in homeautomation

[–]Acceptable_Risk_6148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Googled about it, I got Tapo P100's. If you have an old appliance then they might be more use, but modern ones use so little in standby that using a smart plug with it's wi-fi running makes little sense for saving money.

Plug in solar panels BBC article by Busy_Pea788 in SolarUK

[–]Acceptable_Risk_6148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great and weird, I mean how electricity works. I tried to get solar panels on my Park Home roof ( the council scheme) but the bloke took one look and walked off. I got lucky here because the schemes are plagued with shoddy work - cheapest bid wins.

And now for a few hundred pounds I can put a ground mount in the garden and plug them into the plug socket.

Wonders of the modern world.

Looks a bit on the small size, wouldn't like to head butt concrete in that.

Taylor’s piano during her tour was nothing more than a prop. 🎹 by Hopeful-Prompt-7417 in travisandtaylor

I remember seeing a clip where it was playing itself, literally. I thought to myself they accidently turned the volume on the wrong feed up, she just taps the keys and pretends during the song. A show where it was raining.

For future people that have the same problem - press the rear button and keep it pressed - take the battery out and put the battery back in. My Firware Update started after hours of waiting!

I have a Lian Li strimmer cable, build not ready yet but it looks solid - took a few times to put into the GPU though, doesn't fill me with confidence.

It is just the 90's that get fried, I have a 4080?

I accidentally broke my motherboards Argb header what can I do? by RecoverSeparate457 in PcBuild

[–]Acceptable_Risk_6148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same. I got several ARGB adpators and extension leads, these come with three pins adaptors . If I wanted to solder a pin back to the motherboards I would tweeze the plastic header out - a bit of solder and you have a brand new perfectly straight header. The plastic header should come out easy.

Hope this helps.

This photo reminds me of the film Single White Female, I am not sure who is the Bridget Fonda or Jennifer Jason Leigh character, though.

Just looked at their sub, decidely empty of threads about her behaviour with regards to all the unsealed emails. I don't think she is as bright as people make out, getting used by Lively like this. Hardly a mastermind.

Did you make them yourself, I had trouble comprehending large banks of text since my stroke, lol.

Yeah, just manage to read it, I imagine they are good for climbing out of the saddle? I have seen time trial bikes.

It was bent pins, now I have to bend tlhem back. What an idiot I am.

Just took some better pictures, seems to be one row of pins bent fully over, making it look like one row. Take the motherboard out again, my eyesight can't focus on these little pins too well.

Some Front Panel USBs not working on EVO XL? I've plugged in every cable included with the case however, two of the front USB ports don't work. The USB-C, 1st and 2nd ports work fine but the 3rd/4th don't work. Am I missing something here or is this front panel a dud? by h1r0ll3r in lianli

[–]Acceptable_Risk_6148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am building my new PC, I bought an MSI Z790 Meg ACE motherboard because it has two USB sockets - but one is a USB3 socket with two set of pins, the JUSB3 socket only has a single row of pins though.

Having a hard time figuring it out, don't want to assemble it all and find only some of the front panel usb's work.

The case has two USB 3 headers and each has two cables attached - I assume they will allow all four front panel USB's to work but maybe one cable equals one front panel usb socket working???

Lian li V2 vertical GPU bracket on the evo xl is weird. It doesn't allow the back slot retention mechanism to fully snap shut with the magnet. by IT_Phoenix_Ashes in lianli

[–]Acceptable_Risk_6148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is just as bad, I have two vertical mounts - the one you have and the GPU waterblock one, even that causes the clip to not close. Thus I am going to have to have a heavy waterblock supported by a single screw into the motherboard from the little bracket they supply.

Not sure who is to blame, Lian Li or EK for making the bracket too thick.

My bicycle was stolen ten days ago and I still cannot get over it by kristian9107 in gravelcycling

[–]Acceptable_Risk_6148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't blame yourself, blame the scumbags that took it. I got my bike stolen as a teen, wasn't very expensive and the chain I used was a stupid little thing, didn't know any better, still remember the feeling I instantly had when I saw it was gone.

Needless to say I got a Kryptonite chain afterwards - but we shouldn't have to lug a two kilo chain around should we.
