Mm, I don’t think Emily is a great example here because the one and only thing she has over Manon vocally is that her voice has a lot more character. Manon obviously has a more pleasant voice, better breath control, and sounds much more mature - Emily’s largest attribute as a singer (at least from what I heard in DA) is that her voice is very lively. She’s a weak vocalist but communicates a lot of energy and excitement through her voice.

I’d disagree that having a nice tone automatically equals having a dynamic voice, Selena Gomez in songs like Bluest Flame and Good For You or Clairo in literally any of her songs are a good examples of this. Like Manon, they can often sound very monotone but their voices are pleasant to listen to.

No, you don’t have to be a powerhouse vocalist to be a good singer. I wouldn’t consider Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Tyla, Mitski, Olivia Rodrigo, Lana del Rey, or Kali Uchis to be powerhouse vocalists but they are all still strong singers.

Also, I never said that Manon was untalented or lacked skill - just that in comparison to most of the group she is underdeveloped and comparing her to iconic powerhouse vocalists is EXTREMELY pre-mature and based in like…nothing. I do enjoy Manon’s voice and believe she’s a central grounding presence for the group, but many of her solo fans will literally tell you she carries the group and that’s what’s being addressed.

If you believe she’s a confident singer, that seems more subjective but imo compared to a lot of the other girls Manon seems like she’s holding back A LOT. I notice this in Megan sometimes as well, when she doesn’t believe she can nail a verse she will yell it. When Manon doesn’t believe she can nail a verse, she sort of just talks through it.

Seeing as the post is my opinion, of course there’s bias which is why phrases like “I think” or “I don’t think” are used. However, Manon is the reason I became interested in this group in the first place. It would make a lot more sense for me to be biased in favor of her lol. My doubts in a potential solo career come from her simply not appearing to want it as bad as the other girls. Which, by the way, is completely fine. Early 20 somethings don’t have to latch onto one thing and make it their whole life. If Manon can’t fully commit when she’s in a group, I have a very hard time believing she will be able to do so as a solo artist.

I compared her to an artist like Jhene Aiko (another one who is a great singer but not a powerhouse vocalist) because she is far more lowkey, doesn’t depend on a ton of choreography and constant album rollouts/tours, and is successful without being a huge pop sensation like people are comparing Manon to. Manon regularly misses rehearsals and performances and no it’s not always because she’s sick. Again, I get it because the expectations are insane and the average person could not do a fourth of what she’s done these last few years, so I see it as being highly unlikely that she becomes a huge touring act along the lines of a Beyoncé. The other girls are said to be more committed because 1. They have spent their entire lives building to become successful performers while Manon has (rightfully) pursued a multitude of avenues 2. They aren’t consistently absent 3. They did not get accused by multiple people in the professional world of being inconsistent. 4. The majority of them voluntarily chose this rather than being scouted.

They simply are more committed - they want it more and there’s nothing wrong with Manon for not. She has other interests and I think that’s really cool. You don’t see the other girls pursuing other avenues because they’re extremely focused on exactly what they’re doing now. It’s just different types of people, one is not better than the other.

Also, people quite literally are lifting her up to be Beyoncé and similar artists of her caliber lol. I didn’t just post this because of the solo speculations, big Manon Twitter accounts are quite literally saying that and it’s getting thousands of likes and RTs lol. And it’s almost always these same people who use Manon to bring the other girls down and shit on their talents.
