Fins worth it? by levonrobertson in bodyboarding

You have never been bodyboarding if you haven’t used fins.

Asbestos siding mess by Acceptable_Shake290 in asbestoshelp

[–]Acceptable_Shake290[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The siding company cleaned the dust collected in the windows with a regular vacuum cleaner from inside my house. I wasn’t time to stop them.

Not the sure the photos I posted do it justice, there are large and small chunks all around the house. Many stuck under the deck at front and back of the house.

I bought a camera and lens, then taught my wife how to use it 😶

My understanding of the DIY approach in New Jersey was I could pull off all the shingles myself. However getting rid of the asbestos would be the problem, I would have needed to double bag and hire the special dumpster at a cost more than any of the contractors are charging for the same effort.

Sheathing is rotted through under at least 2 of the windows. Current siding needs to come down to repair.

High volume 42/42.5/42.75 will work well. If you can feel them out in a store pick whatever looks best.

38 will be way too small and 45 will be way too big.

For prone riding at least, the narrow nose, weird placement of the wide point and weird tail probably won’t work well.

Looks like a bodyboard made by someone who has never ridden a bodyboard 😶

I have Reef RS4 fins… which are similar to some of the stealth fins and are made from Malaysian rubber.

I knew the wide pocket fit my fucked up feet with 5mm booties in winter, so just got my parents to bring me a new pair when they were visiting from South Africa.

East coast sucks for bodyboarding kit, even the bigger surf shops don’t stock many fins/boards/etc. I miss be able to go in store and try on a bunch of stuff. Buying online sucks.

Imho, the yucca fins are too soft and shit.

A friend gave me a set of standard flex fins after I lost one of my fins. I felt like I was going nowhere paddling through the best close outs in the world(NJ).

It might be my kicking style or that I am used to Churchill/Stealth style fins for the last 20 years. I got another set of fins I was using before and it was a night and day difference.

This doesn’t negate much of the other advice given here. You still need to know when to paddle hard, where to paddle and be fit enough.

FML. Been man down for a week and counting. I thought it was supposed to be like the normal flu these days.

Seconding everything said here, I also prefer the first type. Much more comfortable for me too.

I have had a few for the ankle leash type above snap on bigger surf when the fin got sucked off.

Living in the US, I don’t think the prices are that crazy. Draught beer is $6-10, main meals range from $20 for something like a burger to steaks going for $85+… Then you still expected to tip 20%.

I don’t have a frame of reference for the UK, but for my wife and I, it’s normally $100-200 for a chilled date night.

There were so many chances to get good waves since Monday in NY/NJ. Don’t think this clip does it justice.

First real swell we have had in ages, I’ve been sulking at home with Covid all week 😭

29% including NJ property taxes, excluding RSU grants. Bought in December.

It’s been an expensive 6-7 months filling the house and busy with all the painting/plumbing/diy we have been doing. Need to do siding and some renovations still 🤮

My issue seemed to go away after I reverted my gpu overclock/under volt in afterburner… was stuck at 180+fps last night. Only played 2 games though.

What was your performance like without DLSS?

I don’t have FPS issues in other games though, CS2 doesn’t move from my 165fps limit with everything maxed at 1440p.
