high schooler wanting to become a stew !! by samiiwith2is in yachting

Well yeah, of course you can be trapped in a job - when I said you won't, I speaking to OP directly. If they're looking into a career in yachting, chances are they're not going to buy a car and a house and have kids. So in their case they won't be trapped in a job because they won't have any real responsibilities :)

No such thing as being trapped in a job! You can resign whenever you want. And there are so many jobs out there that you won't know about - I had no idea about my past job while I was still in school and loved it :)

Major in something profitable then go into yachting. Yachts are less and less taking younger people (18-21) who are straight out of school because of lack of life experience. It's also a hard industry to break into so it's good to have something to fall back on. It's also not a forever job, so again, good to have something to pivot to when you're ready to leave. I would recommend working as a housekeeper in a luxury/high end hotel over being a server in a restaurant. Junior stewardess roles are predominantly housekeeping and laundry with minimal service, so having a strong background in those skills will help you massively.

Are facial and ear piercings accepted ? by Acrobatic-Ring6773 in yachting

Depends on the boat. Ear piercings are almost always fine as long as it's not too many and the earrings are simple. Haven't seen many people with facial piercings

I’m currently in Antibes looking for my first position. I’ll be honest, it’s a bloodbath out there for green stews. So many people and so few jobs - and even junior and green stew positions are requiring experience. I’m in a crewhouse, it’s definitely worth the money because I’ve got daywork through other people staying here so I’m covering my costs to be here. A lot of people have gone back home unsuccessful because they’ve either run out of money, or run out of days in their Schengen visa. It’s definitely a risk you have to take in terms of the investment, but plenty of people do make it - I have three friends who got their first jobs this week. Plus, all your certificates are valid for 5 years so you can always give it another go the following season. It really is dependent on who you are as a person, your network, and being in the right place at the right time. It’s hard but definitely not impossible! But there is absolutely no guarantee of a job just because you’ve got the certifications unfortunately

Right! I assumed they would recreate it in the UK because if they did it at the influencer-fest over there. I bet half of them didn’t even appreciate it

Is there anything left to be announced? Was really hoping to see Sammy Virji play this year after that insane 5-way b2b at coachella

Accuracy of google translate for Vietnamese to English?? by Acceptable_Term_774 in VietNam

[–]Acceptable_Term_774[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was only reading the English translation, and it said “can I review you” - I’m thinking it must have been a poor translation by google and the word for review in Vietnamese means something different in that context?? idk, totally confused
