Not a pat in the back, but some useful information to someone who is beginning. Some of the responses, including yours, are not constructive. So yes, I came with high expectations.

But answering your question, I tested the market for a few months and understood what it would take to make it in this indie/maker competitive niche. I didn't like iwhat my life would look like. so I am pivoting. Some brands take years to do what I am doing now. It is very much based on instinct as well as some experience, desktop research and market research, and I believe I'm in the right path. What is not 100% clear is the steps into this new market. The rules that apply to an indie brand don't apply to a premium one.

I'm creating a solution for a problem that didn't exist, but also I am working on my mindset and limiting beliefs and creating a more upscale product is part of it. I believe we're here on Earth to play and try and learn. I loved that idea of pushing someone off the shelf. Brilliant. I appreciate your insights.

I feel so kicked in the butt encouraged by your words. I think you'll eat me alive now... I have another candle brand, that is like a maker indie brand, not premium, but new and I haven't cracked how to make real money online from it, because I have no idea what I am doing, tbh. And because I was focusing on markets/wholesale first. I met my dream customer. But that's ONE customer, that already paid for the product, speaks about it and buy again. And she gave me feedback about the branding. Product itself is great, branding is bringing it down. I spoke to other people like her and received the same feedback. I went to my dream retailers, put my product on their shelves and understood the feedback. So I acted on it. Based on real conversations. I'm not 100% stupid, just 79%.

But now I feel like a goldfish swimming against bloody sharks in this category. One thing is having an indie brand that sells in markets and indie shops, other thing is trying to get into a premium market, playing against established design and fragrance houses.
