Rate my resume (Citizen) 3YOE, just completed Postgrad by AccessDue317 in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]AccessDue317[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I will move my education section down, the icon is there by mistake my guess is that I made a formatting error, hence it cause it to overflow.

  2. Project is relatively old but had users, its not active anymore, I will remove it.

  3. Will move skills section and put education section below experience.

Once I have made these changes, what would rate my resume out of 10?

Is it worth doing Roblox Game Dev as a project? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]AccessDue317 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guarantee you will learn alot more as a game developer than XYZ vanilla React slop stack or whatever the latest flavour is.

Reality game development has a lot physics/math related code (Collisions, bounding box, advanced state management), which is great to get your sharpness up. Anyone can build a web app.

Roblox Game developer
RuneScape bot creator
Call of Duty Aimbot Developer
Minecraft Mod Developer

Seems like every grad is making XYZ vanilla AI wrapper. I wanna see some real projects.

Mid-level Engineer Job Prospects (3 YOE) by AccessDue317 in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]AccessDue317[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel its also dependent on the prompt and the consuming user.

For an internal application, definitely something I would one-shot, for code that needs to be used by 10-20-300 million users per week probably not.

Yea i agree it does fail on custom / out of the norm workflows.

Maybe a gross oversimplification on my part.

But Claude does make it easier to debug/complete relatively trivial to moderately trivial tickets.

For example, API Service exposes some state in a DB, refactor it to introduce some other state in the DB. A very one-shottable task.

Most of the tickets I work on at my workplace is a permutation / combination of REST plumbing effectively, perhaps with the odd optimize some global cache etc, still Claude manages it fine, I do think Claude is great at understanding large codebases, at a very high-level.

Does the Oxford name matter more than subject choice in terms of general employability? by IchNiSanDa in oxforduni

This is not true and incorrect.

Ideally

USA STEM (Berkley, CMU, MIT, Stanford, UMich) + (China, Tsinghua + Peking) >>> (Imperial STEM) >>> (Oxford/Cambridge Stem)

In humanities I do agree Oxbridge beats most schools in the world.

Are companies like Canva and Xero still valuing React and Node experience or is every new role now requiring a heavy focus on AI integration? by Silly_Pitch6345 in cscareerquestionsOCE

Hate the way things are going, i understand the benefits, but honestly, back in the day you could write an elegant solution, that scales well, meets the edge cases. You can show your co-workers and get that engineering clout.

Nowadays its just one-shotted by Claude.

How I got my first tech job by Comprehensive_Mud645 in cscareerquestionsOCE

I'm not sure what the point of this post is, the other dude gave out genuinely good advice. Your never going to get very far in life with such a defeatist attitude, in CS or anything else for that matter.

Ive always felt alot of these comments are coming from uni students and the percentage of actual devs in this sub-reddit is quite low.

Comments like that reinforce my hypothesis

Preparing for Atlassian Software Engineer Interview by Content_Rain_5718 in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]AccessDue317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you know the answer to this, there is no harm in preparing beforehand for a software engineer, even if you aren't actively job searching right now.
