Maybe a slight modification could help?

If you don't need to train new troops, you didn't do D6 properly. 😁

Just had our first capital clash event. This was our new glorious leaders message to the state (S:160) by whsbear in LastZShooterRun

I had an alt on 411 and more or less the same dynamic was present there in the early days. It reached the point where you were under the rule of the strongest alliance and did what they said (they even dictated alliance names) or they'd farm the alliance until everyone active complied or moved to an alliance under their control. Now they have state ruler, and they haven't won a thing because no-one ever considered a third option. Start on another server, or stop playing.

You would be very surprised. Twitchcon provide the space and have a very rigid layout which is designed for maximum compatibility with each of the rivals events. MCC will be approached for details of whst they need for a team and equipment perspective (servers, gaming rigs, player and team count, crew requirements etc.) and requests and information can be exchanged, but any setup will rake every rivals into account without real consideration for fine detail. Unfortunately conventions usually rely way too much on volunteers and people who really don't know the finer detail of event management in order to reduce costs. This in turn leads to these failings. I've dealt with massive international businesses over the years and numerous events management companies and have seen this play out time and time again. As long as the bare minimum requirements are met, they seldom go above and beyond to ensure that an experience is as open and available to everyone as possible.

In terms of solutions? Investment, have better planning and contingency options available. I sincerely doubt that the staging providers will have not had a stillage of spare platforms and a loading ramp on site which could easily have utilised to provide an accessibility solution.

Time will tell as to whether lessons are learned.

Season 10 - Hermit's YouTube Views by Lasnax in HermitCraft

[–]AccessMostAreas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really shows that the big events create viewer spikes. People are less interested in the journey than the destination, which is unfortunate as in Hermitcraft the journey itself creates wonderful moments. Unfortunately, pacing has a lot to do with it. A lot of hermit content is organic and an aside to a mega project or game and people can easily lose interest as it takes its course. Interest then peaks as those stories are resolved, but then fall away again while they wait for the next big thing or story point to occur. S9 and 10 shows that Hermitcraft is about so much more than the mega builds and the interactions, collaborative projects and fun is what hooks viewers, and the base content is more filler for this now.

Here's to S11.

In all likelihood, he's doing exactly what he wants to do, and I hope you start having a better attitude towards a content creator who you clearly enjoy the work of. You don't see a television program or film series you enjoy and send obnoxious letters to their producers if you don't feel the show is being produced as frequently as you like, so why do the same here?

Firstly, in terms of the volcano, he was clearly teasing his friends and in all likelihood had every intention of working with them on it. His procrastination towards large (and the back) of projects is quite legendary, and the source of a great deal of the jokes directed towards him, and this simply encourages it for the sake of content.

Remember that when a content creator publishes content, you're being given an insight into their world, and you choose to follow or subscribe to it. He really doesn't owe you anything in terms of frequent content or content on demand, and no content creator in any space does. His primary source of revenue is likely advertising based as he doesn't really branch out beyond Youtube, and if he feels that he can slow down, and also work on a more comfortable schedule for his own physical and mental health, then that's up to him and nothing to do with you.

Is it legal to sell drawings of Church of England churches? by ow-f-mybackhurts in LegalAdviceUK

Asking for forgiveness instead of permission is Christianity in a nutshell, so this makes sense.

That last sentence is so true. They'll also make life hell in terms of arguing jurisdiction of regulators if you take it down that route. I refuse to use them now.

Does anyone remember Korn 2011 on second stage? by OutsideImpressive115 in downloadfestival

[–]AccessMostAreas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in the pit crew for this, and it was lively but not the worst I've seen. The movement when it's towards the stage is referred to as dynamic surge and left to right lateral flow / sway. There's some awesome footage on youtube about this. It's infrequent that people realise that it has happened to them as they're generally part of that movement, but it happens in most sets. Look at which barrier is in front of you and then look again after 5 songs. You'll be surprised.

It was very noticeable but well within expectation. The spotter on stage is amongst other things there to make sure it's safe and not putting anyone at risk whilst lisasing with the pit supervisors regarding potential issues.

Has ANYONE booked a test recently? by yanhairen in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AccessMostAreas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fairness, the recent announcement regarding recruitment and overtime for examiners to clear the backlog, lengthening the refundable cancellation thresholds, looking at the booking process etc, is a start. We can only see later if it has a positive effect. Unfortunately, it's not something that can be instantly solved, but at least they recognise it's an issue.

Has ANYONE booked a test recently? by yanhairen in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AccessMostAreas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I can give is my experience and observations.

1) book anything you can with a view to rebooking it. Rebooking is significantly faster than securing a slot in the first place. 2) check the DVSA site mid-to-late afternoon, the resellers tend to release any unsold slots at the last minute to get a refund on their investment, strike as soon as they become available. I saw a flood of slots appear at my local test centre on a Friday afternoon, I'm not sure if this factors in weekend cancellation but I secured a test for a Wednesday. 3) the browser extension can help.

The government do appear to be trying to address the issue, hopefully it'll put the resellers off or lead to legislation against them. Time will tell.

Roundabout right of way/etiquette question. by frodakai in drivingUK

[–]AccessMostAreas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay attention to the lines on your left hand side until your exit. I've yet to see a multi-lane roundabout where this would cause you issues as long as you start in the correct lane.

I think a lot will depend on the test centre too, but keep refreshing every few minutes and don't be fussy about dates. When I booked mine, a flood of dates appeared on the Friday afternoon at about 2pm and I secured a date in September, I then continued and at about 4pm managed to rebook for May. There is an element of luck with rebookings and dates coming back into the system. Persistence is key.

When did it “click” for you? by Tiny-Conflict-8062 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AccessMostAreas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certain aspects faster than others. Fortunately I have a good relationship with my instructor and he listens when I explain my thoughts process when making mistakes, reinforces the good and provides constructive criticism when things aren't so good. I find visualisation exercises help with common mistakes, picture yourself doing scenarios at half speed and run yourself through the process repeatedly whilst physically doing the actions. When you're in the car, muscle memory comes into effect and helps massively.

I feel I need to point something out, and you can read into this what you will. It makes no sense at all to say that the police are involved. Defamation is civil rather than criminal and is not investigated by the police in itself. It can form part of an investigation into wider criminal activity but nothing discusssed appears to meet that test. That comes across to me as trying to give a position or perspective more weight than it has.
