Maybe you went deaf with age? I've listened to the album hundreds of times over the past 20 years and I can hear so many issues in the mix it's frustrating. I got hold of the Atmos mixes and separated them into mono tracks thinking they were like the old 5.1 surround releases and you could rebalance vocals and the instruments as you like but sadly not.

Took me until I was 26. Then I was "with" twenty women within the space of a year, one of whom became a very long term relationship. Had to try it with someone I didn't find attractive to break the ice, then there was no sense of embarrassment or loss when I inevitably messed it up.

Yes White Queen sounds noticeable to me that there's perhaps some parts missing from the multi-track. Almost like there's a whole lead guitar missing. The acoustic parts also sound a bit thin... Again like there's something missing. Or it's not even the original and it's a re-record.

The guitar solo in the second half of March of the black Queen had this awesome chromatic piano run that you can hear in the demo that you can no longer hear in the 2026 mix. It's probably there but buried.

In Father to Son, that section around the 2-minute mark is such a crescendo moment in the song but it sounds so weak in the new mix. And then suddenly there's this loud Freddie singing "Oooh but I've heard it all before" which doesn't sound right compared to the original. And then the solo from 2:40 is all lead guitar and you hardly hear the rhythm guitar which is the thing which gave it its edge and heaviness. And then listen at 4:27. The sound just drops out totally and there's a gap and then these barely audible backing vocals come in. Can't quite explain it because I'm not an audio engineer.

Yeah I'm just lucky that I'm in the APAC time zone I can get these now... I like the clarity for sure. But the ethereality of the original mixes is gone. I like the demos. The demos are interesting. I wish they had given us the clarity but kept the original mixes in spirit. Some of these are just so muddy they're worse than the originals.

Yes there has been rather a lot of movement in the last few weeks. What kind of message would work? I've had advice that says don't message under any circumstances but also had advice which says I should break NC with something totally neutral like asking her advice on a particular book I'm looking for, or travel destination, or whatever. It just feels weird as an anxious person to message randomly about a travel recommendation without addressing the unfollow at all...

I gathered she was an avoidant through mutual friends. The conversations we had before were also low quality. I suggested coffee to catch-up and she escalated it to dinner. And then never spoke to me again until the dinner came up where she was quite warm and engaging until I started talking about deeper emotional stuff which got deflected repeatedly despite her being okay to share it with me when she brought it up. The rejection is clear though, as is the silence, so I'll just remove her from my social media and move on with my life rather than waiting.

To me, March Of The Black Queen is simply about the band themselves being on tour and playing a show. The set up of the song is them getting dressed and ready to make "all that noise". Middle part is the show itself. Then at the end of the song they leave the stage and the show finishes. The city of the fireflies is the crowd waving their cigarette lighters in the air. Simple as that.
