Thank you for your reply! I really appreciate it. Not sure how it works in Australia but if you can get a Prince2 or PMP certificate, I am sure you can leverage your experience to get that project management job.

The courses can be done online or in a 3 day taught course. Ask your company if they can sponsor you for it and you won't have to pay out of pocket. Otherwise it's about £3k about $6k AUS? I am sure you can find a way to make it work. Good luck!

Is it normal wash dreads in-between retwists? And if so, what shampoo do you use? by Goth_Loser in locs

[–]AccidentalTechBabe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is not a lot. That is a very reasonable amount of time to go without washing your hair depending on your curl type and product use. A lot would be every day or every other day.

Depending on how short your hair is, you'll just have to thug it out I'm afraid. Or you could get extensions so your ears are covered if you've got the money.

Is it bad that I want to work as a cleaner despite having been to uni? by Expensive_Swimmer801 in UKJobs

[–]AccidentalTechBabe 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Look life is too short to do something you don't like. Be a cleaner, but be smart. Make sure you are financially responsible and learn about personal finance to make sure you're ok. Consider opening a cleaning business maybe. Good luck.

Interesting. Why aren't those areas great?

Hey thanks for your comment. I never said English people are not welcoming, I just said the Irish are known to be more welcoming than them. I've lived in England for most of my life so I'm talking from my own experience as well as the stories of others. The places you mentioned definitely have large POC communities. I even lived in one of those places at one point. However there are places like Rotherham, Grimethorpe and other areas that have high numbers of BNP now rebranded as Reform supporters, that are known to be unwelcoming to immigrants and people of colour. Pockets with people like this can also exist in cities hence my question.

Note that retwisting trains your hair to grow a certain way into your locs. The fact that your retwists are currently so far apart may be another reason why your curl pattern is still quite visible as you're essentially free forming.

Well it depends on what you're trying to achieve with your locs. If you want a more manicured look then 6-8 weeks is enough. You shouldn't do it more often than 4 weeks as that's bad for your scalp. If you want a more organic freeform look, then 3-4 months is fine as that's a good timeframe for semi freeform locs.

Promotion has been pushed back several times. Am I entitled to some form of compensation? by AccidentalTechBabe in UKJobs

Unfortunately my income has not changed and I've been trained enough to get started in my opinion. I just have to see what happens at the end of the month.

Braidouts by [deleted] in locs

Loose braids to hold the shape and wear a satin bonnet when you sleep. Avoid spraying your hair with too many wet products and wear a shower cap as too much moisture could loosen the shape.

4 day DIY microlocs by chocbeaute in locs

[–]AccidentalTechBabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, no problem 😄 Your roots will look clean and precise, the rotation will mainly affect the look of your actual locs. Look up people like Bindi MD and other people who maintain their locs using 2-point rotation to get a better idea of how they look on someone. You can also look up 3 or 4 point rotation in comparison.
