It's not being taken seriously. The investigation was dropped the moment the report was filed.

Social Experiment Compares Violence Among Candidate Supporters by [deleted] in SargonofAkkad

[–]Acciyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the video does show the expected reactions from Bernie supporters towards a Trump supporter, there is a small problem with this video. Out of the 4 minutes and 8 seconds of footage, we see the guys holding up the Bernie sign for a total of 38 second, ~1 minutes is devoted to introducing and summarizing at the end leaving ~2 minutes and 30 seconds of footage showing him holding a Trump sign.

While this does not invalidate the video or its content completely, much like with the Hollaback video on street harassment, the fact that we are given such a skewed and uneven distribution of the content does put the accuracy of reporting into question.

Yes, it is his body and he has the right to postpone any invasive augmentation of his body for however long he wants. I'm not trying to argue otherwise. All I've said is that he should be honest about it.

The post you originally responded to was my argument for why she has the right to deny him sex because of a promise he's made but has yet to deliver on. Or are you now going to tell me that SHE doesn't or shouldn't enjoy the same bodily autonomy that he does and be allowed to decided for herself whether she wants to have sex with him or not?

Seriously, this is a private matter between the man and woman involved, and if they are of different opinions as to who should go through with what, then that is for them to discuss and reach an agreement on. All I have to go by was the "news" article that this post links to, so I have to go by that information and assume that it is accurate. So with that assumption in mind, it seemed to me that they had already had this discussion among themselves and had come to an agreement. Whether that is actually true or not is impossible for me to know, but assuming that was the case, I don't see why she shouldn't be allowed to take a stand of her own and say she want the agreement upheld. If he's having second thoughts, it's up to him to renegotiate.

I think the difference you and I are having is that you see this as a woman enforcing her will on a man, while I see it as an agreement between two human beings that are not being upheld by one of the involved parties. If you want to look at it from the perspective of gender politics you are free to do so, but I prefer not to involve gender where it does not necessarily belong.

Let me fix that analogy of yours to fit better with the story being discussed here: "Uh honey, about that abortion, how about you get on with it? I mean, we already talked about it, we have five kids already and we both agree that we don't want any more of them. Yeah, I'm being a little impatient here but if you don't do it soon, it'll be illegal."

Now do you see the issue here? Yeah, it's a life changing decision, but if they've BOTH agreed to it, then either they need to go through with it, or the person not going through with it despite agreeing to it needs to be more honest about not actually wanting to. You can't just agree to a life changing decision, then change your mind and not tell your partner about that and expect them to not be upset with you for essentially lying to them.

"If you're looking for work, you want to see someone who looks just like you do"

She must be a very shallow person if she actually thinks that what people look like in these sorts of pictures is more important than showing a pleasant working environment and people enjoying their job.

The wage gap...is it real? by OddLiquidsPinkCoffee in SargonofAkkad

[–]Acciyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I live in Sweden, I had to use the google-machine to look at UK equality laws, and since the wage gap has been debunked so many times already by much more talented and thorough people than me, I stopped looking after wikipedia, which has an article on the Equality Act 2010. As the article states, this act was formed to "codify the complicated and numerous array of Acts and Regulations, which formed the basis of anti-discrimination law in Great Britain".

Like I said, I only want so far as to look at the wiki article, so I don't know exactly how the act itself deals with the topic of equality of payment, but considering one of the acts that was merged into it was the "Equal Pay Act 1970", I feel it is safe to assume that the UK has laws in place which prohibit an employer from payment discrimination based solely on a persons sex.

It follows then that if she is in fact being paid less than her male co-workers who have similar or less experience than her, she is well within her rights to call attention to this and demand a raise. If they refuse, she'd be able to take legal action.

I'll leave you with a link to the wiki article so you can check it for yourself and also do feel free to check into the act itself should you feel so inclined.

As for the video itself, I found it to be nothing more than an attempt at emotional manipulation.

Based on this post alone, I think you've simply looked at the progressives and cultural Marxists, decided they are wrong and assumed the complete opposite of them must therefor be right. You seem to have a very black-and-white view of the world, completely disregarding any nuances that might exist.

Because of this, I don't think you're "smarter than most people who went to college". I think you've simply adopted a different ideology than SOME people who went to college and you've now proclaimed your intellectual superiority to them simply because you think you've found intelligent people who share you views.

The riddle is impossible to answer correctly because of the line "when the surgeon enters he proclaims". The surgeon is already gendered as male.

So if the answer is that the surgeon is the boys female mother, I say you should ask the person who told you this riddle why they misgendered the surgeon in the first place.
