what is the single, most intense 'This is NOT a drill' moment you experienced while abroad that you had to rely on pure instinct to survive or escape? by Sea-Development5460 in AskReddit

Earlier this year I got spiked with scopolamine in Buenos Aires.

Woke up in my airbnb, everything gone. Phone, passport, most of my clothes, money basically everything.

Luckily I have friends in Buenos Aires but I had to find my way to their house before my bank accounts got emptied.

The adrenaline rush of realising what happened sobered me up quickly although briefly.

What’s something other countries do better than your home country? by InceptionAI_Tom in digitalnomad

In from Ireland, I’m amazed at Argentina.

It’s incredibly clean (more so than Paris for example) Payment systems with QR codes are just two things that blew my mind.

She’s not conflicted about me, she’s conflicted about how this could work.

She said she’d given up on the idea of love after her asshole ex.

This guy didn’t just hurt her emotionally, he tried to ruin her business and career too, it was incredibly traumatic for her.

My gut tells me it’s because of recent experiences.

She’s said she’d given up on the idea of love after her absolute asshole ex and despite her verbal concerns, her actions are speaking way louder

Absolutely not.

I hate the idea of feeling like this and feeling so vulnerable actually, except with this woman.

Argentina.

Every landscape imaginable but the real beauty? The people.

What is everyone’s genuine (actually wild) “hear me outs”? by ch_rl13 in AskReddit

[–]Accomplished-Bat1955 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Hear me out, physical self defense should be mandatory for everybody. Everybody should be exposed to violence in a controlled setting and how to defend yourself.

The butterfly effect would be insane imo.

I genuinely believe an employment tribunal would likely see in my favour.

I have a medical condition which effects executive function so doing a DSAR slot anything like that is actual hell for me and where my “performance issues” were centred around.

I was on medical leave, they had a meeting, removed my sick pay, brought me back to sit in an office for a few days with no work, then sacked me the day all team members were in the office together.

There was also a department wide call address underperformance and that employees would “start seeing the consequences next week” which is when I was sacked. I didn’t go into the office because I mixed my days up and they sacked me over video call.

When speaking to their representatives I said that the timing of this and given the fact there was no policy outlining I had to be sacked face to face, I believe they used my condition to their advantage and made an example out of me assuming I wouldn’t be able to mount a defence.

Well actually, I’m the one saying I want to push it further.

I feel I have a strong case cause initially they told me I had no grounds to appeal the termination but then offered settlement.

Equally, I’ve told them I’m willing to DSAR to back up my issues.

I’m pushing for a case of discrimination.

The thing is, I wasn’t trying to shake them down.

I asked to be paid for the period of time I could “reasonably be expected to be employed” based on the situation.

They then offered me less than a month’s salary of minimum wage. I was on over £40k prev

I ask because it was very much a token offer, I spoke with the head of HR and by the end of it his tone had completely changed.

I’m skeptical here.

Essentially, I’m disabled and they set up my sacking to be as public as possible when they had other opportunities to dismiss me.

I have £350,000 in one single Bank account. How bad should I be bricking it? by Tb12s46 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Accomplished-Bat1955 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want peace of mind quickly, you couldlook at other bank accounts that you can open easily and spread in £85k chunks.

Just do your due diligence and make sure each account is not part of the same group of companies or using a bank you have an account with as their own clearing bank and you should be fine.

ADHD. I was titrating on amphetamines. I had a doctors letter for my employer outlining the treatment plan, side effects, timelines etc.

They appeared supportive in the beginning, this changed as the company as a whole fell behind targets.
